Mtnfolk Mike generously gave me some small pieces of leather when I was at his place, to try and make my first sheath for the little knife I made my wife. Well here is what I came up with. Thanks again Mike!

Building that first sheath gave me the confidence to go out and buy a whole double shoulder of leather, and I made a sheath for my oak handled Mora, with firesteel loop. I made the firesteel handle out of a spy capsule, thanks to inspiration from Nick Nack.

Excellent work! I like the color you chose, it compliments the handle of the mora nicely.

Great job with the firesteel and loop also.

Thanks, but I didn't color/die them. I just finish the bare leather in a beeswax/pinesap mix, and the leather naturally darkens to that color.

If that's your first try at leather sheath making, you're off to a very good start:thumbup:

Now as Fiddleback would say....Let's see those edges!

Oh, well here are the blades without the sheaths:
Larger one is a full tang 4" Frosts Mora rehandled in Oak, with aluminum and red spacer bolster and pomel.

Smaller one is one I made from scratch for my wife out of 1075 steel, ironwood handle with black spacers, and aluminum pins and thong hole. 1/8", Exposed tang, scandi grind.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it really means a lot!!!

Very nice stuff. That's fantastic for a first time. They look as good or better than the stuff I make and I've been doing it for years.

Keep at it.

Those sheaths look great, especially it being your first few times. I especially like the re-handle job you did on the Mora. It really gives it style.

those came out great nick... nice work.. i really like them both... i see many more sheaths in your future....:D

Two   up...one for a great job on the sheaths and knives stingray and second for mtnfolk mike for being so gracious...man you really have to love the team of first class members on the WSS!!!

I'm very impressed with both the knife and sheath!

I like both a lot. THe first one is very artistic for a first attempt. You can always learn more later - like tooling and carving - but getting up the guts to do it is the biggest step.

I, personally, would be proud to wear either one.
