When I really get the hankering for something I start the PBJ diet, save the lunch money, sell all the extras I can muster up and save every penny till I can get it.

Makes it that much sweeter when I do finally get it.

I am all about this as well; my wife on the other hand...

No problem at all Bro. We have to keep stuff like that off the forum because, even though we know you, we might not know the next guy who does it trying to get some play for his own listing on Ebay or another forum.

Just have to be even handed with that kind of stuff. Can't let you do it and then nail someone else.

I know you were just tring to help.

Being that you are currently in school, take advantage of the home games. Collect bottles and cans
I know some around my school who have made 500$ in one nights work.
I saved bottles and cans tell i was able to buy my brkt mininorthstar, I did the same for my moss500. If you want one make it happen Otherwise go to walmart and pick up a sak .(not hating just stating.)

Dang. 500 bucks just finding recycled bottles and cans?

Yea, my scout troop used to go around to people's houses. You'd be amazed how many drunks live with their mothers and never take their bottles back. We made $150 out of one garage once. At high volume, it's better to setup an account at the recyclers, You'll get a better price than 5 cents a can. Think we broke 2500 in a day.

He starts the PBJ diet and I start plotting about how I can buy whatever it is that he wants out from under him and surprise him with it ;).

I think that the reason you dont see many used RATs is because the more you use them, the more you love them. The more beat up they start to look, the better looking they become!! At least that is how I feel.:)

+1:thumbup:

Thats is really nice, dang I wish my wife was like that. Shotgunner, your a lucky guy. (My old lady needs to peek at this post :p)

Just keep watching the trading forum. But watch out they go VERY VERY FAST. or just start saving a little $$ and pick your self out a new one. Either way RAT KNIVES are alot of BANG FOR THE BUCK. GOOD LUCK

You can catch more flies with honey...

I'n your shoes, I'd get a cheap knife. while RATs are nice, there is almost a 100% liklihood your weekend adventures can be served with quality knives at a fraction of the price. cold steel and others make some pretty incredible knives for the money...

...Then spend the extra $60 on a babysitter, take the wife out to the woods, make her a splitwood fire and toast some marshmallows for smores and enjoy a bottle of wine.

Take my advice and do it up right and you just may end up with that RAT sooner rather than later.

B
Now that is sound advice.

Remember it's not about the money, it's about what you can tell the man in the mirror in 10, 20, or even 50 years time.
You can get a lot of use out of a Mora or an Opinel, and giving a mother a break from a toddler and spending a good time with her is a really precious gift.

And I really hope people don't think that I don't agree with the price of RAT knives - quite the contrary: I think they are some of the best quality knives especially for the price and the warranty is the icing on the cake. A $500,000 house might be a phenominal deal but that doesn't put it in everybody's price range...

Once I'm done with school it won't be as big of a deal but for now it is a huge deal. I figure I will just pinch and wait to snag an izula and either pinch for a while more for an RC-4 or wait till I'm done with school.

Thanks for the responses! I'll keep checking the exchange :)
I commend you on knowing and keeping your priorities straight and in order.

i agree with others here. i buy knives to use, and have only sold or gotten
rid of knives that didnt perform the way i wanted. these rats perform well,
so its very unlikely that i'll ever sell one. mora's are good cheap knives to
start with, but i love these rat's. i would start with the izula. its really not
that expensive, and it's the one i use the most (edc).
