I carry a CZ 2075 RAMI (9mm) most of the time. Mine is the alloy version, my wife's is the polymer one. Not a bad conceal weapon, but even the plastic one is pretty heavy for a woman, and my Gorgeous Wife's (known as "GW" to all my friends) vanity doesn't allow her to make many compromises in what she wears or how much comfort she has to give up to carry. Soooo, we spent the last several weeks testing all the "mouse" guns for her. Looked real close at the Ruger LC9, but saw several reviews on YouTube that showed that even highly experienced shooters couldn't readily adjust to the long trigger pull. Groups were all over the place. We got the chance to shoot the new Kimber Solo Carry, and were really thinking that was gonna be the ticket. But literally every shot that either one of us took dropped the mag because the ambidextrous mag release wasn't recessed on either side, and there's no way to wrap your hand around the grip firmly without depressing it. Really dumb design flaw. Oh well, too expensive anyway.
Soooo, after handling every sub-compact on the market (she won't even think about a .380....she was the same when I taught her how to ride a scooter; no Sportsters for her, had to be a Hog) and pretty much ended up right where we started.....Got a Kel-Tec PF9 on the way right now. Bought it new off Gun Broker a week or so ago. Should be here tomorrow or the next day I think. The RAMI weighs about 24 ozs. loaded. The PF9 weighs about 14 ozs. loaded.
So I'll continue to carry a RAMI, have a RAMI in my BOB (inherited from GW), sometimes I carry my S&W 4563TSW. Other more "serious" bug-out gear includes a Kel-Tec SU-16 Bravo and a S&W 12 ga. folding, skeletonized stock, pistol-gripped shotgun.
Of course, no security plan is complete without an early warning system of trouble coming, so our property perimeter has a few strategically-placed "motion sensors" like this:
J/K. They're manually fired. No motion sensors! LOL
Gotta say to Jerod, I hope to God that the vast majority of our soldiers understand and abide by their oath to the Constitution as well as you do, Brother. No soldier nor militia-man
wants a revolution, but if one starts, it won't be those of us who revere the Constitution who started it, it will be us defending against the tyrants who would treat the Constitution the same way a baby treats its diaper. I hope it never comes down to it, but Brother Jerod, if it ever does, I'd gladly share a foxhole with you.
Our Founding Fathers made sure that the rights of self defense and defense of liberty that God gave every human being would be protected for perpetuity. I think ol' Thom Jefferson would understand my stock answer when I'm asked why I carry a gun. Simple, I say, because I can't carry a cop.
Rights are like muscles and brains; use 'em or lose 'em.
