Awesome write-up, J. The only thing I'd say it's lacking (and I didnt read all the pages of responses, so it might have got covered, forgive me if it has) is an brief covering of the directional terms we use. For example, everyone might not know what a distal pulse is. It might benefit them to know the terms, in relation to actually applying the information you've given. Just a thought I had.
Here goes:
Anterior - Front
Posterior - Back
Right - The PT's right
Left - The PT's left
Lateral - towards the outside
Medial - Towards the inside/middle
Superior - Towards the head
Inferior - Farther from the head
Proximal - Closer to the midline ( in an extremity, closer to the trunk)
Distal - Farther from the midline (in an extremity, further from the trunk)
Dorsal - Toward the spine
Ventral - Toward the superficial abdomen
I might have forgot and left out a few, but I'm sure Riley or Jake can come back and fill in the blanks for me.
