First Bad post in GBU---Need Advice

General rule in life:

LIARS SUCK!!

If what you say is true, I would not deal with that person in the future...

You can always email him with your suspicions and see what he has to say. Tell it to him like you see it and give him a chance to do the same. That often clears up things before they get bad and ugly!

Good luck!

Michael

Do yourself a favor. Don't wast anymore time on it. I had this happen 4 times in 45 days. I must say it put me in a bind. I was counting on the money( over $2,000 bucks). I will be sending the knife is being relisted e mail on 3 of them today. No matter how much time you spend or emails you send he already told you he is not going to pay for whatever reason. Relist the knife and go on down the road. Just keep the name on you watch list. A knife like yours will sell or trade pretty quick anyway. Be glad you did not already send the knife. Just me thinking out loud. Ed

I've sold quite a few knives on this forum and haven't been burnt (thank goodness !).

Have experienced several incidents, like yours,

where someone reponded to one of my "For Sale" ad's with either a "I want it" or "I've sent the moolah" e-mail's. Box the blade up and a 3 - 5 days later nothing has arrived to the abode. Basically, "<font color=orange>Joe Bubba</font> " (not really the buyers name) <font size="4" color="#FF0000">reneged</font>! Of course, left me slightly confused as to why. Actually kinda surprised considering who the "Joe Bubba" (again not really the renegin' buyers name) was who reneged on the transaction!

Didn't lose any sleep over it! And "Joe Bubba" (again not really the renegin' buyers name) was placed at the top of my <font color=blue>What a POS list !</font> And will never do business with them again.......

<font color=purple>Moral of the story:</font>

Don't let it bother you, consider your "Joe Bubba" as a POS, start a POS list and add your "Joe Bubba" to the #1 position. Finally, consider yourself extremely lucky that he didn't take you for a long ride than he did!

Mark,

That's very unfortunate indeed, that a fellow forumite would lie like a DOG. UNDER no circumstances IS such behavior to be tolerated HERE.

Sometimes, during times of weakness, people do things they know to be wrong. The true measure of their character is not the act itself, but their behavior subsequent to it.

The majority of folks around here are pretty decent, honest knife knuts who do what they say and say what they do.

Having been burnt recently (partially my own fault for being too damned trusting), I can understand how you feel. While I won't let it deter me from future deals with other forumites, I will be more careful with unfamiliar sellers.

At least, you didn't end up losing a knife or payment to that character.

I've had to back out of a few deals periodically, and have had many, many people back out of deals with me. It's understandable, but I do agree that you should have been notified.

By the way, if anyone is mad at me for backing out of deal, I apologize.

Ya know guys,

We stumbled in here after 200+ successful ebay knife related transactions, with only two "maybes"

We had a guy sell us a lightly resharpened Randall #16 as "mint" After a few unanswered emails over the course of a week, we left him a neutral...he responded with our only negative to date. (Thanks MDBlades, wishing you all the best...)
rolleyes.gif

We also sold a mint NIB Benchmade "Brend" folder to a guy that pleaded poverty....so we waited 3 weeks to get paid.

We've had around 20 successful dealings here and on KFC so far, with no hang ups so far.

(Thanks for the SERE IV Parker, you really are the kind of guy that makes it all worth while! The best, seriously!)

The thing of it is, most of us "knife folks" are obsessive compulsive to the point of being knife rich and dollar poor.

So, we always try to talk with the person on the phone as soon as a deal is started. You can tell a lot about a person once ya start talking with them on the phone.

If we hear anything "funky" during the call, then the deal is off...no ifs, ands, or buts. Especially no "butts"

It works for us, and it might work for you.

Also, as a long term "Op's" in a large, well traveled chatroom, we learned a long time ago that "trolls" can't handle the light when they're outted.

The point here is, if ya fail to come to a resolution, after all attempts to resolve the issue falter, and if someone still "dicks" ya around, shout their name loud and clear from the roof tops..."Rube!"

Let everyone know who they are, and if they badger you with sh*t email, post that too!

A little extreme for ya eh?

Well, you and only you know how much BS you can take.

I dunno, treat people like you'd want to be treated. That seems to work best.

Mark,
You probably already know my feelings regarding those who would lie, cheat or steal.

Regardless, I think you were wise to proceed cautiously in the manner that you have. At this point, however, it sounds as if this bastid should be outed.

This is why I insist on getting payment before sending out a blade. I'd say %99.9 of the forumites here are stand up knife nuts like me. But with almost 10,000 members now, there will be bad deals going down too. I say, only post the persons name if you got ripped off somehow, or a lot of your time was wasted with no result. Otherwise, it's pretty much a no harm, no foul situation.
