If you feel like reading, a short history.
In 2002 I was getting ready for surgery and after discovering hand made knives and needing an outlet during recovery, built a small shop. I was only making folders at that time so set up shop based on small blades, later modified equipment to accommodate up to a 6" blade after making a fixed blade a few years later.

Now after making this big knife I need to modify again, I really enjoyed making this bigger knife and looking forward to making another. I'm saying this because I felt very strange after applying the clay sending the blade out for heat treat (Thanks again Don!). Since my first blade I've always done my own and after an upcoming surgery will set up for bigger blade heat treat.

9" W2 blade
Bronze guard with black, bronze, copper spacers
Sambar stag handle with black, bronze, copper frame
14" o.a.l.

Thanks, all comments, questions, welcomed,
Dave

Hopefully not too many pics.!

Fantastic Knife, Dave!!! One of the best I've ever seen.

You really brought the hamon to life. Looks better than I thought it would.

Outstanding work Dave: The Stag is Beautiful and I love the like. Great job in my book. And good luck with the upcoming surgery. I will be having surgery later in this year. Thanks for showing it to us.

Thank you for the well wishes radius!

Ryan, this knife went to a gentleman who has an avatar hunter, now he has a matched fighter/hunter set.

Thanks again Don, I hated to sand off that color I was talking with you about, one of these days I'll figure out how to dublicate it!

Good luck with your surgery Barkes! and thank you

I know it's a smaller big knife Raymond but it's still the biggest blade I've made, I can now understand why people like to make/collect them!

Thanks for the well wishes Mike, can't wait to get it over with!

Another extraordinary knife! There could never be "too many pictures" of one of your knives Dave. Now I just can't wait to see the awesome sheath you'll make for it.

Took me a while to recover as I fell off me chair after seeing the picture. This one gets a perfect 10 ! Hamon to die for .

How did you texture the bolster insert and the "spine" in the handle ?
