So I just received my first Emerson today and I'm pretty disappointed. It's a Roadhouse BT and it's got some issues that I feel might just be my bad luck. First thing is the G10 on the Emerson logo side. It's got some marks that looks as if a ball bearing was pressed down and rolled around on it (looks smashed in). Secondly, and this is the most important, the blade edge is AWFUL. It's VERY rough and it won't even cut the skin on my finger.

For a knife I just dropped $200+ on I'm pretty bummed. Some of the guys I work with carry Emerson's and they love them. I want to love this knife so bad as the design is so sexy. You guys think I just got a bad knife? Should I send it in with the warranty?

^^^^ what he said. I once had a problem with a new Emerson blade and I sent it in and they made everything better. Great customer service. Just give them a chance to make it right.

I love my Emerson's.. But this is crap.. I get the Chevy thing that Ernie says..but come on..really?

Do we really have to put up with NO final inspection?? This is flat out sloppy and arrogance..

How hard is it to have someone check every knife before it leaves the shop?

Doesn't Ernie realize how much it costs Emerson to have to deal with the same knife twice? Or doesn't he care ?

This is 100% USA made knife that is treated like it is coming out of some sweatshop in China!

I bought a CQC7v from Emerson directly, and those beautiful handles were filthy.. The handles looked like some mechanic just got done changing out a transmission and forgot to wash his hands before packing up my knife.

As a knife lover and business owner, I find this disrespectful to me as a customer.

It's really a chisel grind kinda customer service policy!

Think about it.. They only sharpen one side, as they only check the knives that customers complain about.

I love Emerson's as much as anyone , my mini 15 is my favorite all time knife.

This kind of lack of outgoing quality inspection is exactly what sunk the US auto makers in the 70's.

I don't need to see a picture of your knife.. This song has been played a thousand times.

Oh.. But thank god they have great customer service..

Where did you buy it? I HIGHLY doubt it went out of Emerson's door like that.......

Send it in Emerson will take care of you and then some...Can we see pics of the knife before you send it in? My roadhouse came directly from Emerson and was/is perfect in every aspect.

Why do you say that??

My grease monkey cqc7v came directly from Emerson.

Your dirty knife isn't the equivalent of the damaged Roadhouse in question. My Orange UKPK came with a giant blob of grease on the side. Instead of complaining about it, I just rinsed off the grime. The g10 could have been damaged in shipping or storage at the dealer location. Either way, whine like a small child. I will never understand how individuals have success in life when they just incessantly complain about things that are barely pertinent.
To the OP: send it in, deal with the flaw, or return it.

Did you send it back? Did you even contact them? No? Don't complain.

A dull knife direct from Emerson? Bull. I don't buy it. Sounds like it was bought from a dealer who sold the OP a returned knife.

Call them first to explain your problem, get the name of the person you deal with (they may ask you send it C/O to them) Tell them politely what your concerns are and they will take good care of you. I live close to the actual Emerson factory and i stop in from time to time... they are very nice folks to deal with and on numerous occasions have replaced stuff (liner locks, liners and such) while i wait. Very nice about it too.

Give them a chance to make it right, i'm sure they will.

The fan boys are really something...

You guys keep sticking up for Ernie...I applaud Emerson for his loyal customers turning a blind eye to his lousy final inspection procedures. I am convinced "Stevie Wonder" is actually in charge final inspection.

I actually did complain, I did email pictures of the dirty/ greasy knife. They gave me the very nice standard response.. send it in, we will replace it.. I am done with you guys that cannot seem to understand that we have a right to expect 100% quality from a US knife maker. If that is whining.. then you don't have a clue about business.

40-50,000 airplanes fly around this planet everyday. If that many planes can navigate the skys safely EVERYDAY, with peoples lives in the balance. Explain to me why Emerson knives cannot ship a clean, sharp, centered knives to his loyal customers??

If there was an Emerson Airlines.. would you fly it?

So basically what you are saying is that you like to pay a premium for sub par merchandise? When you pay for a high end product and get a dud, you should just accept it and move on.........???? Gouged scales and a dull knife seem to be more than just "barely pertinent"

Def contact Emerson, nothing I have ever gotten from them came less than perfect condition. This is def not right and they should make it right. Sounds like it might have been damaged in either shipping or perhaps a distributor damaged it. IMO! Good luck!

I own several Emerson knives and enjoy each one of them.
When paying $185+ for an Emerson, I think it's a reasonable expectation to assume that you'd receive a quality blade that you can use, right out of the box. I understand that from time to time, during a production run, things may occur that may cause a knife or two to come out as a "lemon."
But I hear what you're saying -- at the respective price point, one would think that there wouldn't be too many issues with the knives leaving the shop.

Hey Harley guy go to your CRK forum if you don't like Emersons plain and simple. $hit happens and we don't need you here, you have nothing positive to give

So you complained and they offered to make it right.
I agree that you have a right to top notch CS.
But 100% QC is unrealistic in any business.
Sounds like you are belly aching for no good reason.
And by the way, planes do crash from time to time.

OP! We are still waiting for pics or I am calling shenanigans, as I notice that after your initial post, you choose not to participate in the discussion.

You're truly dull-witted. Read what I said. It was made quite obvious that I was referring to the person talking about his "dirty" handle scales. I addressed the OP at the end of the statement and began said statement with a preface that stated "to the OP:...". I understand how my simple, to the point comment clearly meant for a single individual could confuse you.

I dont understand why anyone wouldnt voice thier opinion if they were not happy in any way with a product. We all know that happy stories dont always get told and the unhappy ones always do. Doesnt make that persons experience any less worth of being discussed numerous times if the want. To some $200 is the same is buying a burger, to others its the biggest christmas gift they will get. So to have so many comaints on quality control isnt something that shouldnt be talked about. I havent had any problems with my emersons but I hate seeing others get talked down on for voicing thier opinions. A non knife guy would get a bad knife, return it and go elsewhere. Seems like only us kn ife nuts are willing to give miltiple chances. Good business will last and bad business will suffer. We'll never know the difference if you dont let people talk. Theyre great knives but they are a bit rough around the edges and thats expected from guys like us who are in thr know. But, brand new knives that are dirty out of the box, new blades with lock rock, etc need to be known. I know every emerson I buy will have to be taked down, cleaned and lubed right out of the box. Im willing to do that but I shouldnt have to. Sorry if none of this makes sense, the coffe is still brewing and iv got a bad finget cut from drinking and waving my cqc7 the other night lol.
