First Emerson - New to me CQC8!

I oil all my Emersons regardless of the condition I receive them, then after "knifewanking" for a few days I find that I can gradually tighten the pivot screw eventually leading to the treads taking and staying put. Also, that way I don't have to dissect my babies unless i absolutely need to.

P.S. Successful troll was successful

OT: Ok, where can I get a 19-eleven? (no, not the gun :p ) That knife looks seriously awesome :thumbup:

There was a recent post by Emerson that he is going to add the 19 eleven to the production line up because he has received so many requests for it.

Here is the post that Ernie posted on another forum about the 1911 knife:

"Since many of you have asked, I am going to make the Nineteen-Elevens. It's always been one of my favorites and I carry one all of the time.

Hope you like them as well.

Best,

Ernest R. Emerson "

Bitchin!!!!:D:thumbup: Looks like I have to start collecting returnables again.

Not to be a ass smart :p but wouldn't life be easier if Emerson, Krien'd all his knives?

i dont know about ernie but life would be simpler (and cheaper lol) for lycosa.

actually the zero bevel emerson customs are i would imagine quite a bit like what tom does.

dc50---Some bros don't like the zero grind.
They can be tricky to sharpen.
For me, well... you know what I was going to say. :)

I don't understand why the edges have to be reground. My Emersons sharpen up real easy. Its one of the reasons they haven't moved away from 154CM.

The only EKI that resisted by sharpening talents was the Commander. Recurve chisel grind... shudder!

Mark---The traditional chisel grind does not have a secondary bevel. Putting a secondary bevel on a CG defeats the purpose---a superb cutter.

i imagine they are pretty cool and good slicers, i suppose ya lose a little strength and they would chip easier, but imho a fair trade off, ZBG blades arent any harder to sharpen than a std CG imho, only con is when doing the burr ya have to have the back of the blade flat on the stone and ya scuff it up (which sucks) if ya dont tape it or arent carefull.

A "convex" zero is as strong as any knife edge, so have I been told.
A flat zero is not bad either. :)
