First Framelock - Sold! Thanks

If you could make something just like this with a 5" blade, I'd be on it like flies on shit.

Daniel- Any plans for a folder with one side all G10?

I'll eventually do some that way, linerlocks too.

Sounds good! I have a big design I know you will like. It is a ways from making but already designed!

He'll do it.
Yer late to the party, Matt.

Bigger and smaller are in the plans... I have a bunch of designs for later. :D

Got any pics and a ballpark price point?

Nothing yet, they are a ways off... I'm making about 20-25 of these first! :D These are $475 for most... I think around $600 for the bigger one I have planned as it is pretty intricate. It is a different knife but will be my style all the way!

When you're ready to start my megafolder, PM me. I have certain requirements.

Daniel, I don't think that I've ever said a single word to you, but your work is amazing, seriously some of the most exciting stuff I see. I'm totally in love with the large ti tanto, but this folder is ridiculous!

I hope to buy something from you one day. Maybe I can find someone who would trade one of your knives for a Sebenza or something. :)

Keep up the great work!

Daniel... you're cookin...
:)

:D Thanks!

Much appreciated! lol after I make a bunch of folders I might know someone who wants to check out a Sebenza :D and a Hartsfield... and a Carter... and a Fikes... :D

That's a very beautiful beasty looking folder (I want one! Soon...)

But forgive me if I'm putting a little damper on this thread but looking at those pictures, wasn't the frame lock supposed to rest in the middle of the back blade area? (Forgot the terminology for this) rather than sitting at the very edge of the back knife part? I just found it weird that none of the pictures showed the frame lock sitting firmly in the middle in a locked position.

Or maybe I'm missing something or the pictures are not displaying the lock position faithfully?

I had the same question...

See posts #32 and #37...

Which, if you noticed Knolan, was not exactly answered. ;)

Besides, mines a more straight up and upfront question based on the frame lock's function design. Thanks anyways, Knolan.

If you're referring to the lockup, it's been answered in this thread. Generally, people want an earlier tight lockup. Daniel has applied carbide to the titanium lockface in order to help mushrooming of the titanium over time. Given wear and tear, that lock will slowly glide over towards the other handle slab. If you think it's locking up too early now, I imagine after some time of opening and closing, it will make its way over a bit. Regardless, I'm sure that lock is not slipping. Daniel's a smart man and I have no doubt he's researched the correct angles at which to cut the blade tang and make it meet the lock face in a way you wont shear your fingers off.

Thank you for explaining!
I'm sure you're right that it's an intended design. Just made me feel a little cautious because I've had frame locks disengage on me because I was using it at odd angles for trail clearing work. So seeing that frame lock the way it is...I can imagine unlocking that thing rather easily if used in a certain way/angle.

The titanium lockside is always trying to push in towards the other handle slab. I have obviously not handled one of his folders yet, but they look pretty big and beefy. I imagine that it would take some good thumb muscle to push that lockside out naturally to get the blade to fold in. If there's any pressure on the blade, the chances of the carbide covered lockface slipping back off the blade tang seems unlikely (but as with all folding knives, not impossible!).

Always remember to treat your knife like it's intended to be; a tool, not a toy. I've seen lots of people doing some silly things with knives get hurt in extraordinary ways!
