First full custom folder..Direware Solo v2..and man is it a tank!

Hmmm...the only thing I think I could really tell the difference on would be the ball bearing pivot, had no idea that Direware started doing that on his folders but thats very cool. To be honest, I don't actually put the Solo in my pocket that much as its so beefy and thick, might actually make my pants fall off lol...I just keep the knife on my desk or in the glove box of my ATV when I take it out in the woods. Alway nice to have a monster folder with you when you're out in the woods of Kentucky.

Right off the bat i was very impressed at the craftsmanship. Materials and FF are top notch. 3/16th inch blade stock, s35vn. Everything about the knife is overbuilt and beefy. The ti lockbar is thick and makes a sollid thwack when the blade is opened. The pivot has a bearing system which is buttery smooth. The pocket clip is one of the nicest ones ive seen on other customs, easy to slip in pocket and has great tension. Eric definitely hit a homerun with this one!

How long does it typically take to get a reply from Eric about a Direware? I sent a general email asking some questions about the Solo and options I'd have, before ordering, but have yet to hear back. It's been about 3 days now since my email.

Typically a day or two tops.. I believe his work load has gone up drastically in the past few months, and he's just a one man operation..give him time, he'll get back to you
 
I put my order in last June and received email from Eric knife is ready last week. I'm hoping to find my Solo in the mail tomorrow.

My word , how did I miss this thread !?

That folder is freakin beautiful ! The only thing I would change were it mine is a far more pointed blade tip , otherwise that is so sweet... I'm happy for you , owning such a beast of a knife.. Beauty and the beast ! hehehe :)

I had to sacrifice a couple spydies..I was a little bummed. Now that I have it, I'd get rid of all my other ones for another solo. I wonder if he'll make me a flipper version...damnit :foot:
 
What does carbon fiber look like on the inside of the handle. It it smooth or does it have a texture to. And do you think it's strong enough since it is not lined with titanium. I just ordered one about two weeks ago and I'm just curious to see what you think since you already own one. Awesome knife!

The carbon fiber is slightly thicker than a 1/4 inch..I'd say it's more than strong enough
 
Looks very well made. Ill bet it looks a lot nicer in person. I plan on using as an edc.
 
:rolleyes: for the longest time, the only knife I had was a ZT 301. Unless you're used to carrying that weight and sized knife, you won't find it comfortable as an edc..just my .02
