I would like to purchase my first high quality knife. I have had plenty of cheaper ones, but none of great value. I would like a folder, less than 3.5" blade, under $150 and I would like it to be VERY GOOD LOOKING. I have heard mcusta's name thrown around, i like their basic model with quincewood and damascus. I also like some of benchmade and spydercos higher end models. I would like any and all suggestions and peoples oppionion on the mcusta. THANKS!

Well, the good looking prereq takes Spyderco outta the running :D:D (J/K)

So, other than aesthetics, what other requirements are you looking for? What do you plan on using the knife for?

You can't say the Spyderco Sage is ugly.
Are you looking for a more dressy knife? You mentioned damascus? Slip-Joint or Lockback?
Mcusta usually gets good reviews from what I've read.

Intended uses, please. "Quality" is quite a broad term... dress knife, display knife, or EDC knife? What kind of styling do you like? Tactical or traditional? From what I understand, damascus isn't really a EDC kind of steel. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

i will use this a an edc knife sometimes, and sometimes a dress knife, i wont put it through anything vigorous, only EDC tasks. What knives fit my requirements?

PS, I don't think spyderco's are ugly, i like their looks.

if it was heavy duty like the zt0350 or something i wouldnt mind, it just doesnt need to be. it has to be functional along with being good looking, i find the zt0350 and spyderco paramilitary good looking for reference.

Spyderco Lum, carbon fiber.

Benchmade 940 Osborne. Aluminum handles anodized green with a reverse tanto point. I want this knife. I have found it for as low as $140 online.

Spyderco Sage 2........hard to beat.......Many good knives a that price. Good luck.

I would take a look at the Spyderco Caly 3 with carbon fiber handles and the laminated ZDP-189 blade.
Not too big, not too small (3" blade, just a hair over 4" closed)
The CF and laminated high end steel blade definitely give it "upscale" look, feel, and performance.
Fits your price range
If you are a shrewd shopper, with a little patience you can own one virtually risk free (easily sell/trade for buying price/equal value if not impressed),

I have owned a few of the Caly 3 knives and carry mine most days. The quality is outstanding, and the knife feels great to hold and use. Excellent design.

This would be my choice for a EDC that looks good and can do some work. Queen cutlery Mountain Man with D2 blade and amber Bone handles. You can get it with or without the blade lock I have two ( both with different handles) and for the price it is an excellent knife.

Mine was a Buck/Strider 880 like this back in fall of 2000.

Spyderco Micro Dyad black pearl handle , Spyderco Kopa brown jigged bone handle , Case Slimlock golden rod jigged bone handle , all good looking knives in my opinion , plus the advantage of good steel VG-10 in the Spyderco's , BG-42 in the Case .

I'd go with something from ZT like the ZT200 or ZT350 also theres the very popular Spyderco Manix 2 in that price range.
