First High Quality Knife

Benchmades 707 Sequel is one of my goto dress knives. With the g10 inlays, it has some style but still a user. Axis lock is smooth and sturdy. Nice beefy blade for a smaller knife.
You have a world of options and twice as many opinions -- good luck in the hunt.

I don't think you can go wrong in getting a Mcusta knife. Their damascus is vg10 core and it makes a great carry knife for edc and for those dress up occasions. The liner lock on the models I have handled are quite good and the lock up is great on these knives and they don't get the popularity they deserve IMO.

Any of the Spyderco carbon fiber knives are good bets; my personal favorite is the Native,

Lone Wolf Harsey T2 or T3, depending on which size you want, in Cocobolo. Very good looking, ver well made knives. Out of production, but can be found in auction or in obscure dealers from the web.

If you can live without one handed opening, any of the Victorinox knives in Alox. Some of them come in colors. I particularly like the Solo in sliver Alox. Attach an eClipse for pocket carry.
