First Hinderer is on the way!

I bet a blue anodized lock side, clip, and G10 Ti liner would look amazing with some matching blue Ti standoffs against the gray....

How do people "blue" blades? Microtech Whaleshark has a gorgeous blue damascus blade, for example (http://www.bladehq.com/item--Microtech-Marfione-Custom-Titanium--12725). Might as well go all the way.....all blue XM-18.

I was going to post a pic of Les Baer TRS but I don't have any good pics of when it was blued, however as far as I know bluing is actually a rust or patina sort of treatment. You can check Doug Turnbull's website (not sure if I can put a link), he is famous for his beautiful bluing. Its a relatively cheap treatment as well, much more cost effective than DLC coating or Hard Hat, although less durable as well.

Hope I was of some help although my experience with bluing is with 1911's, however I will say some bluing is absolutely gorgeous if done correctly.

The liner on the inside of the G10 scale is Ti isn't it?

Indeed....standard scales are G10 and the liners are titanium. It just made me smile a bit to read the two close together in your post suggesting that a "G10Ti" material exists.

^^ Thanks guys! Wouldn't polished blue screws, stand offs, and a heat treated clip look awesome with the gray scale? Even a blue black scale!

My advice.... despite input you may receive here or via PM/Email - Stay stock OR accessorize with Genuine Hinderer parts and accessories.
Enjoy-Use-Get to know your knife when it comes and then s l o w l y make nuanced changes that build on each other over time and reflect your evolving changes in taste and what you will find useful or attractive.

Just my $.02 and worth every dime ;)

Awesome. And thanks. I completely agree. Just the excited kid in me speaking. Once again, Rubi is the voice of gentle and perfect reason. I would have gladly served under you Sir.

I'm speechless. And unfortunately hooked! Lifer here. Thanks again Rob! I owe you a pint.

That looks great, congrats! The perfect Hinderer in so many ways. And yes, blue standoffs and clip look great on the grey. ;)

Thanks! How are you doing? This is one awesome, tough cookie guys. Strength 10 men couldn't amass. And a knife collection 50 men couldn't obtain. Sorry for the shout out Lone. I'll shut up. You get it though.

I'm guessing you read some stuff about me elsewhere, but I still say I'm a wimp. But yeah, I do have a few knives. :p

I'm doing about as well as could be expected right now, how are you? Besides happy with your sharp friend, that is. ;)

I'm good! No one prepared me for love at first sight guys. The hype, truth is real. Like Rubi told me. Enjoy this "one." Not the next. It will take away from this, my first one. Can you blame me? I have to have a 3.5" slicer as well. Them I'm done for awhile. promise! A single dad has limits. Best of both worlds. Maybe a Splice or Splicer grind? Ha

Really. I never new how smooth theses were. A spongy smooth opening and closing. As if stirring pudding Rick! Getting used to the break in and detent. (Somewhat weaker than I'm used to?) I know you have to preload some XM's. Push up and in. Like a button.

Lastly, I added Nano Oil. I heard teflon reacts well. Guys!!!!! and lady(lone) Get some Nano Oil!!! It went from spongy smooth to creamy buttery smooth. Like glass! Ive had CRK and Strider. Still love them. When broken in. Amazing as well. This to me takes the cake. You get it though. Should have warned me. Now I'm addicted. Hinderer on my mind. All day! ;)
Thanks again Rob, Rick and Rubi. I'm a lifer. Makes having served. Along with my job that much more special. Hinderer and heart on my sleeve. My son always the main focus. Some single dads, in divorce have had bad fortune. I've lost a lot Rob. Things taken away. Bankruptcy. Others. Not my self respect or dignity.

Almost lost my mom during Christmas. She is having an important surgery end of April. Lone understands. For me, getting this chance isn't all about material or money. I've worked hard to get to this point. This defines "pride of ownership" From where I was. To where I am. To where I'm going. Never thought I'd be at this point. Or great place. It started with a $50 Ripple. So yeah. It's nice to have some good fortune my way. Yet I am humble. Pay it forward. I take care of the sick and dying. So yeah, I would easily give this up to help another less fortunate. Thank you all. With admiration and respect, Rick Hinderer Knives. I'm Patrick. I'll leave you with the best way to show my person.

-Patrick

What its all about.

After a post like that I cannot add much but can tell your priorities are in order. Good stuff!

If you listen to the small core of the faithful here, you would have had a huge hint that there is no "hype" for XMs. Only "complainers" tend to be those who may be better served by other knives. (read this and don't flame--it says "may be").

Boy is that the truth. Some one called me a fangirl for praising Hinderers. Riiight.
