Taichung just simply has it going on!!:thumbup: The Vallotton I received today is as perfect as a knife can be when considering the fit/finish, and really all the other aspects of a folder that I look at. The polished G-10 is a perfect fit in all places with the liners and G-10 being a perfect fit so that you can't tell any difference when rubbing and going from G-10 to liner. The blade is perfectly centered when closed. Lock up is as good as it gets with .065" steel liners coming over onto the tang of the .157" blade. The detent is very firm, but when opening the blade will snap open. The locking bar is very firm in it's position and under normal circumstances I don't believe it would unlock without a firm push by the holder. The blade slices through newsprint without a hitch from the back all the way to the tip. The tip is very sharp with a pointy needle sharp point, but it is also very thick compared to other knives this size, and you will not be snapping this tip off! The blade really reminds me of my Kershaw Speedform due to it's thickness and short height, and I really, really like that design. The blade turns on phospher bronze washers, and as I said earlier, it is very smooth through the entire opening arc. I took off the original clip and replaced it with a deep-carry, fold over clip, from US Knifemakers, mounted tip up with the entire knife going into my pocket, just the way I want it too.

This is my second knife from Taichung, Tawain, and both are perfect in all aspects. As I said in my opening, these folks really do have a handle on manufacturing a knife to perfection!:)

These knives look gorgeous !!! I just received my second spydie from Taichung ( Anso Zulu ) and it is also perfect in all ways !!! I really need to check one of these out !!!

How many Spyderco's are made in Taichung? I know the Gail Bradley, Perrin PPT, the Vallotton, and now the Zulu, are made there.

Cutter, you hit the nail on the head. I haven't put mine down since I got it last week. The F&F are superb and it is just a smooth as silk knife. This is definitely a keeper.

It is! I can't help but take it out of my pocket during down time and sit and flick it open to admire the perfection of manufacturing.

You Are Going To love it.....................

This knife is a HOME RUN!!! Sal, Butch and all the gang hit one out of the park. I can't agree more with the review. I have Striders, Mayo, Burch, and many many more. The fit and finish is easily of near equal quality and it is a production folder. My all time favorite Spyderco folder. I also recently bought the ZULU, don't worry about the quality coming from Taichung, Taiwan, is perfect. Get one while you can. I LOVE MINE, yea I am yelling I LOVE MINE!!

I'm in the same boat as MikeyD!! I shouldn't have looked at this thread and now the pics have done me in!

Those are some nice pics Rickster! Especially that lockup pic as yours is hitting exactly where mine is on the blade tang. I read somewhere else where the writer stated that the liner lock did not really interfere with holding/handling since it, the liner, sticks out so far, and I agree as it has not been a factor in comfort when holding the knife.

It has been with me since it came and I still pull it out from time to time to admire the sleek lines, rugged build, and perfection in fit/finish.

I didn't realize that there were so many knives made in Taichung, Tawain! I thought only a handful, maybe 4 or 5 had been made there. Are all the one's mentioned marked as Taichung, Tawain?

I noticed that the Vallotton is marked "Tawain, Taichung", while my PPT is marked "Taichung, Tawain". Just a fiw.

The Vallotton is by far my favorite Spyderco. This coming from a man that is normally not interested in Spyderco.:)
