You forgot Boker Magnum too...and him buying 2 to show this Video isn't helping

Aware me on the Boker plus fake, I have stepped away from the hobby since it was eating to much of my spare $$ which Is shared with shooting. The only knife I am getting in the near future is by paying dave for my 0777 pre-order when they are available.

This guy is russian and he has videos of all the high end fakes that have been available and apparently also has a big collection of real knives.

Looks pretty similar

All that effort to mimic one design. The real deal must be some real nice piece of work; except it won't set off a gieger counter and won't have a lead based finish.

On a different note I'm also still waiting for my 777 as well.

they have have a lot of skill making fakes. if the would come up with something original bet it would be good....

You mean something original, using quality materials, and with good quality control? Yeah, that would be great, they could even deliver it on a flying unicorn!

:p

^never underestimate others. Japan was where China was at like 40 years ago, look where they are now.

I'm passing on the 0777 simply because I just can't afford it (not that I don't want one), but there's no way I'd pay for the MT, the Chinese version, the Boker or any other fake.

I think they copy because they know anything produced there has intrinsically reduced value, not matter the quality.

You apparently haven't handled some of these fakes. While some are crap, I handled one which is exactly the same fake Large Regular Sebenza Haze reviewed/compared on the CR sub-forum and while they are not equivalent to CR knives they are on par with other sub $200 knives. This will not be anywhere near a real 0777, but the guy making them has the ability to produce very high quality knives. I believe he prices most of the fake/production knives he makes under $150 and make one off handmade customs in the $400+ range.

If only he made his own designs I'm sure they would be vastly popular and perhaps even more profitable from foreign clientele.

I wouldnt underestimate the chinese. They have the ability to make a very high quality product. The offerings from legit USA based production companies prove this to us everyday. I agree that its shady that they make these products but they arent completely to blame. Many of these fakes are commissioned by people in other countries and samples of knives are collected and sent there for reverse engineering. Sure the chinese seem to not really have a value system when it comes to copyright and trademarks but they build what people pay them to build. What really needs to happen is find the guys actually commissioning them to make these things.

There is a company in china copying Jason Brous Triple Threats. Apparently SOG couldn't copy the triple grind, but whoever is making knock-offs figured out how too. He talks about it at 2:38 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jENuec0AtrI). Don't underestimate anyone, especially someone who wants something enough

I think it would be awesome if ZT could freaking make the 777!

MT has made it, sold it, been sued over it, and discontinued it, and now the Bokerese version is coming out but ZT still hasn't gotten this thing into production.

Hobo, the real 0777's are on the way. They are happening, just slowly We have lots of parts and just need to get more assembled.

On the topic of this thread, I have seen some pretty amazingly detailed fakes in China. They learn quickly. What's lacking in most cases is material quality, heat treat, etc.

It is a shame to see, but not surprising.

Not fakes, but some of the slipjoints AG Russell is having made in China are very nice for the money.
