I would have never guessed that your hands were that large from the photos.... you must be a short fella! :D

If the handle is comfortable for you on the knife you are already using I would maintain that handle size and just scale down the blade profile(maybe this is what you have already done, I do not know). An actual knife or roughed out handle is always better for comparison than a cut out. I am bad about not doing this too, but it only takes a few minutes to rough out a handle shape in pine to see if it fits as it should.

Salolan - I'm 6'-3", 190 lbs, very lean/muscular build. Not a small guy by most standards, often the tallest guy in the room - especially if I have boots on. The cardboard cutouts are a first step. I'll adjust these and then I was thinking I'd cut them out of masonite or other flat scrap and rough out a handle as you suggest. That's a good idea.

+1 on the full sized handle with a smaller blade being good. just look at the droves of fans for the Izula II. Im a newb so take anything I say with a big grain of salt. lol
