First Knife You Ever Got?

A Camillus(?) Cub Scout knife. 1962. I wasn't allowed one until I was nine. Yet, on my eighth birthday, I got a .22 semi-automatic rifle. Apparently, growing up in Texas had it's own code of child raising rules :D.

It was late 60s. First that I bought w my $ was a small Old Timer Stockman. Got a Western Cutlery Bowie for Christmas somewhere in that same time period. Eventually lost the Old Timer. The bowie saw MAJOR abuse.

A good quality Solingen "Hunting knife" probably 5" bowie style around 1970, given to me by my grandad. Eventually broke the tip off throwing into a tree. It used to live in my parents cutlery drawer for many years but disappeared after their last house move some 18 years ago. It may turn up eventually.

First knife.....
Well my parents were paranoid about "weapons" when I was a kid- I couldn't have anything- not even a cap gun. And for a kid who was a total gun 'n knife nut since I could understand the words "gun" and "knife", this was like putting a chastity belt on a hooker... :p
One christmas my uncle got my cousin some sort of Buck fixed blade. I was so jealous. So when we got home I snuck my dad's SAK out from his drawer and carried it around and said it was "mine".
A few years later my first persobally owned knife was some sort of chinese offbrand Leatherman clone multi-tool that I weedled my dad into buying for me at an auto parts store. Probably the dullest blades and saw I've seen so far, but I loved it and carried that thing around everywhere for probably a couple years.

Mine was one of those stereotypical gentlemans folders lockback with white inlays. All it says on it is stainless steel and the pivot is pinned in. Found it on the ground when I was young still have it. I really hate it tons of bladeplay but I cant just get rid of it.

When I was eight years old my dad gave me his Victorinox Swiss Army knife from the 1950's...I treasure that knife!

No name slippie with SS handle, which my mother bought me along with other office supply for the first grade. How else do you expect a boy to sharpen the pencil? That was 49 years ago. Pen knives were OK in schools.

I wish it were the same today. :( In art i got to sharpen pencils with an xacto knife which was pretty cool lol :)

My first knife was a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, and Officer Sussie Model. I got it when I was six years old from popcorn sales when I was in cub scouts (and they still gave out decent prizes). Fifteen minutes after I had it, I went to close the blade and sliced my thumb wide open. I guess I learned my lesson on where to put my fingers when closing the blade.

mine was a gerber suspension muiti tool that i can remember, i had a few like flea market knives before then but they all fell apart in peaces long ago.

mine is a old parker cutlery lockback thats says and has a picture of a bobcat on it got it when i was 9 i still have it
