First Knife You Ever owned?

I think it was my dad's old scout knife from when he was a boy. I've still got it somewhere. I should dig it up and clean it and sharpen it. To valuable to risk in my EDC rotation though.

It was a Schrade OldTimer 34OT, a gift from my grandfather. I was 7 or 8 years old, but Mom kept it put away until I was a bit older.

I lost that first knife almost immediately after I started carrying it. Bought another exactly like it and kept it put away. I still have that replacement knife in nearly-NIB condition.

Yah my mom did the same thing. then i got a one handed trekker SAK that she let me keep

Can't remember the brand, but it was a freebie one got when you bought a pair of shoes from the local shoe store. Boy, times change.

My Grandpa gave me his old Barlow back in about 1952. I still have it.

My first was either an Old Timer slipjoint, or a Buck fixed blade 102 (or is it 112?). I lost that Buck in the woods one day when I was about 14 or 15.

I've done the same thing with my own boy. He's not yet three years old, but already owns a couple of knives, and has since he was born. Of course they're put away out of reach, but he loves to look at them and to learn the knife part names. :D

When I was ~8, I adopted, with dad's permission, an old carbon steel slipjoint from the tool drawer. Got my first BB gun along about that year, as well.

A buck Trapper copy. Still have the knife. Carried it from the time I was about 5 until I was 7. Came into an Imperial Lockback knife that I carried until I was about 18.

I sold "Spudnets"(a type of donnut) to buy my first-it has "Original Bowie Knife"stamped onto the blade. This was in 1951.I still have the knife in nice condition.

Folding Cub Scout knife from Sears - don't remember the brand but it was during the mid/late '70s. I remember it being replaced by a SAK of some sort after I lost it (and so it began...;)).

Mine was a little single blade "Davey Crockett" knife. I was only in first grade then and we carried our knives to school without causing a lock down.

sold Spudnets in1951 to get my 1st knive. Has a 6 inch blade.Everyone thought it was to big fo a 10 year old,so I got it for myself.

I got a dull Imperial fisherman knife with yellow celluloid scales. I thought it was so cool because the blade was so long. I was in 4th grade, and I was slicing some cardboard (pulling towards me of course:rolleyes:) and stuck the point of that about 1/2 inch into my left forearm:eek:. I almost fainted and could not go to my parents, because err.... :oI did not have permission yet to own this knife I acquired from a neighbor kid. I slowly gained my composure, pulled the knife out of my arm, cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide (my arm not the knife:D), and bandaged up my wound. Told my mom the cat scratched me, and put my knife away hidden until my wound healed to ask if I could have the knife. I recall having the knife for another few years before I lost it, so I must have gotten permission. I am 43 now, and I still have that crescent moon scar in my left forearm.....Thanks for letting me share....

CJ65 as in born in 65

1953 Mine was a Cub Scout knife that I was only allowed to carry when I was going to den meetings or on official scout forays into the 'wilderness,' (read: the local park with several trees.)
