First Look- Kershaw Strobe (by MATT DISKIN!!!)

I really wish I could see a review of this one and see how it handles.

Anybody who's got this knife, don't be afraid for "show and tell"

What part of never produced didn't you get. Even if a prototype was produced (no one knows), it's never been down.

LOL! Now that I've re-read what I wrote last night, I was actually referring to the STROBE! My brain just didn't register to type clarifying what I was referring to (not enough coffee and multi-tasking between a BF posting and preparing a briefing paper for the boss!)

I LOVE that Kershaw is putting out awesome, budget minded knives. For casual use people like me who don't do much more than open the mail and light chores around the house these blades are the best. Would I prefer a better steel? Of course but their committment to putting out sub $50 folder is great for the knife community.

This knife at a moderate price point with better materials would be an absolute winner. Say, 154CM and CF. That would be downright awesome in a $100-125 knife. I would buy a couple. But as a bargain basement import with 8CR13MoV it doesn't even get a blip on the radar. I'm sure I'm in the minority here and Kershaw will sell a ton of them. It's just a shame from my point of view.

Does remind me of the knockout. Pretty sweet design indeed, and, though I tend to want blades with a little higher quality materials, what you're getting for the money is a very well made knife. May pick one up and see how that KVT performs on budget blades, which will be really good i'm sure.

They had me at KVT :D

I might get mine pimped after I pick one up. Acid etch the blade and maybe get some real G10 on that sucker.

I actually completely agree with you.

I've been keeping an eye on this and will be picking one up ASAP for sure :D I'm a sucker for high value production knives

Let's hope the strobe will look like the proto, we all know how different the diskin fixed hunter looked when it got out.

This sentence is confusing. The Strobe is not a prototype. Its a finalized design.that has already started shipping and some dealers already have them in stock...
Like many, I do not have a gripe at all about the blade steel. There are hundreds of great designs out there that run on bearings with high end blade steel for a few hundred dollars. There AREN'T a lot of budget models other than a few by CRKT. Good move, Kershaw! If it weren't for the god awful K-texturs frn, this would be pretty close to the perfect budget folding knife. Now if Kershaw could get rid of the assist on the Knockout and Piston and replace it with this KVT system, the world would be a better place!

So they're out in the wild. Who is going to be the first to post pictures and a bit of a review. Come on guys, after all this waiting let's see one in hand.. It's going to be months still till they're available in South Africa and I've promised myself this will be my next new knife purchase so would really like to know if it's going to be as yummy as I think it is.

Edit: ok nevermind, just saw the other thread. woohoo!
