First Look: Victorinox Pionier X

Are these available in U.S as well yet?

It doesn't look like it. And im starting to get a little antsy for one, I think I'm shifting from the farmer mindset to this pioneer x. Just need a release date!

Thanks for such an in depth look with wonderful photos! It looks like these dropped in the US. I got my shipping notification from Knifecenter!

Wow, they exist in the wild. Sweet! I would also like to see them in colors.

I recently picked up a standard pioneer X as well as two of the Damast limited edition versions! They're awesome!

These are available now at many places in the US. Now when are different colors coming out??

Mine is in the mail!! I feel bad for the stock pioneer that will see no more pocket time but I couldn't resist what is basically a perfect SAK setup.

My Black Pioneer will be relegated to my wife's glove box while my new Pioneer X takes it's place in my right front pocket, well, it will once it arrives ;) I am a little worried over the added thickness but I think the addition of the scissors will more that make up for the bit of thickness that is required.

I'm going to wait until the price goes down, it's $61.95CAN for the silver Alox model. Don't get me wrong, I'd pay this if I really needed it, but right now I don't, so I'll play the waiting game for the time being.

I don't notice it feeling any thicker than a Farmer. It is, but just not enough to dissuade me from carrying it 24/7 :D

Here's a pic of the LE version I've decided to EDC for the next year or so.

What an awesome evaluation and photos! Thanks for preparing this report. I see this Pioneer-X as being my next knife purchase.

Anyone know what other colors will be available in the US? Price in the US? Those scissors are just awesome, I've always like the SAK scissors.

Mine arrived today, very nice! Not too thick for carry, I may part with my other one, not sure just yet, was going to leave it in my wife's car but she'd not ever use it I'm afraid so it would just sit and sit and sit :)

The blade on this arrived fairly sharp, I ran it on an ultra fine spyderco triangle stone lightly and then stropped it and WOW razor sharp with a very slight touch up!

The scissors are nice as well, I'd rather the nail nick was on the pivoting portion but I guess that would be hard to do. All in all, VERY nice :)

Well, the photos on line really are pretty nice, but here's a snap shot of mine today with a paracord lanyard with a celtic bead, it is attached to a smaller split ring as the ones that come are so large.

Please give a review! I've got one of these on the way, and I want to carry and use it too. It's hard to find reviews of the damascus models in use. You know, how does it hold up? Does the extra hardness translate to better retention? Can it tolerate a very acute edge angle? Does the etch fade quickly? That sort of thing.
