First Look - ZT 0777

This is easily the most beautiful knife i have seen in a very very long time. I must have it. I only hope that it can come out soon and we don't have to wait till say Q4 / 2012.

It is a must have in my book.

Question for Thomas ..........Has the blade steel been decided ???
If not .......... something beefy please , any super steel is fine with me ........... very curious as to what it will be.

Right now we are looking at using Bohler N360 or Vanax 35.
Thank you .........I,d rather have ............ah , it doesnt matter ....whatever you guys use Iam sure it will be good.
Its not like Iam gonna use this knife anyway ........its a collection piece for me.

I hope I can find a SW Tilt with Vanax 75. It's been so crazy on my end I think I missed out. :(
No matter what you guys use on the 777 it's gonna be good. I'm always looking for exotic steel.
It's crazy how the M390 turned out. I've read nothing but good things about it. I need to pick some up. Elmax has been so impressive. You guys turned me on to that. It's like a more corrosive resistant 3v.

(Psst, Thomas, you guys should start talking to Carpenter about ordering fancy steel. Spyderco seems to do pretty well with them. Maybe they can do Nitrogen alloys?)

I think everyone would agree in this case quantity over (perceived) quality, cause we all know the quality will be top notch, the name zero tolerance says it all. Just wanna make sure we all get one.

We should leave the R&D up to the professionals. The impossible job of trying to please everybody all the time. But so far the 0777 comes real close to perfection no matter what the cutting edge is.

Side note, has anyone heard anything about CTS 204P or 20CV, they look interesting. Nice to see more American super steels.

Of course this sheet shows it at 59 RC. Maybe the sweet spot is a bit higher, doesn't seem like much obvious community knowledge of testing with this steel and I am very hopeful for its performance. A bit confused by the steel chart, it has a "moderate" amount of carbon and some Nitrogen, should be plenty corrosion resistant? Easy to sharpen up?

Very interesting steel, very interesting design I am looking forward to it. Initially turned off by the high price point but I think I will pick one up. It is certainly unique.

N360 or V35 will also be great IMO.
Or have the entire blade be damascus. That would work too:thumbup:. AEB-L isn't too shabby as a core edge material, and I doubt you could tell much difference between it and 14C28N.

In any case, I have no complaints so long as we can get it this year if that's reasonable.
