First Look - ZT 0777

Has to be one of the most beautiful knives I have yet seen. It's as much art as tool!

I hope people don't just safe queen it or mount it on the wall to look at only. It is a knife and should be used!

Though you know, if anything happens to your knife while working with it, Kershaw is not going to have an abundence of replacement parts to be able to repair it.

oh my.... -n360 +m390.

Zero tolerance knives-kai usa ltd.

Straight from the top: "wanted to let you all know we are proceeding with fixtures and parts. Working hard towards finalizing the 0777 and getting it out on the street. We changed up the cutting edge on the composite blade from n360 to m390. (you edge retention lovers should like that.) http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6195/6047397546_df8a1f6033_b.jpg

wooooooooooo awesome!

Also, the blade looks beadblasted? I can't quite tell as some of zt's knives are stonewashed, but are still a dark shade.

Sweet.....Thanks man!!!!

Ok, we scrapped the M390 steel. Had issues with the finish through the etch process. We're looking at N360 or Vanax 35 now. Will keep you posted.

And now I'm disappointed again. Why would the m390 be etched? Are we talking about the cutting edge or Damascus spine?

With CB blades that require an etch, the process has to be done with the steels in a married state. Steels can react differently when being etched.

Here are proto blades done up in N360 (Top) and M390 after a quick etch. Don't feel there is much left to talk about with M390 going forward. Looked even worse in person.

That actually looks kind of cool.
 No it really didn't. You'll have to take my word for it.

As to the N360, I'm excited and have zero issues. That goes for V35 as well. Kinda sad IMO that we judge from a spec sheet and a picture vs. experiencing it real time.

Oh man that m390 blade looks like cast iron. Too bad about m390 it would have been sweet! Hope we get vanax 35!

Hmm, okay. So what is the finish underneath the etch? Beadblasted?

I feel like the steel on this should be over the top, but if it doesn't look good then oh well.
