First official finished knife!

Good start. It's not really number 1 until it's marked "1". Just my opinion. Did you do any texturing to the handle?

I do need to start marking my knives, I need to buy or make an etcher. I considered stamping it with my initials pre heat treat but wasn't too sure about it, some people say it could cause problems.

I shaped the handle to where I wanted it, then sanded it up to 400. I didn't like the smooth feel of the 400 so I took it back to 120 grit. I think I left the "outline" of it 60 grit. I mostly tried the higher grits to try to make the lanyard tubes look nicer.

Thanks for the input.

Nice work, especially for a first blade. It certainly looks better than the first knife I made.

Welcome!

It was a smart idea to spring for the knife maker membership up front.

There have been many who start out as registered, gold, or platinum with nicknames etc for their forum name, then when they switch to a maker, they switch over to their real name just for recognition.

I have had several makers that took me a while to find again once they switched to their real name.

My first knife was a square design, with a sharpened front edge, symmetrical grind that I made with no power tools in my garage.

I have two others languishing in my garage, waiting for me to finish them.

I have also started making my own leather sheaths.
