First post and first (really) expensive knife

That's kind of what I was thinking! Thank you for the lesson. What's your preference in blade shape between Insingo and Drop point? I always lean towards drop point but I like a little diversity! I told my wife about Blade Forums and she said "oh no" and chuckled nervously! Lol

Just as is with every knife, they're not always for everyone.
Pick up a Chris Reeve model here on the exchange at a good price in case you don't like it you can turn it back over without too much of a loss as opposed to buying new.
I've seriously tried to like the CRK models and have owned most but just can't fall in love with them.
Great quality just not for me.
And yes, I've eaten the depreciation on a few new models much to the joy of the BF exchange, you're welcome. ;)

Good advice! I really want to get a 21 I think, maybe an Emerson, Busse, not really sure! Just starting my nice knife collection so any feedback or things I should look at would be great!

Welcome, and congrats on being able to post pics on your first post. It took me a while to figure that out. Looks like you already know the danger of being a member here, Enjoy!

You're off to a great start setting your sights on quality pieces.
I think my favorite of all of the CRKs I owned was the large 21 carbon fiber presentation side exclusive. I don't believe the dealer is on the list here on the forum so I won't post it. Easy enough to find.

Welcome to the forum! Take a seat, kick back, and enjoy the show:)

Since you're worried about beating up a Sebenza, I'll tell you what...Buy yourself one, beat it up, and if you're not happy with it I'll send you a 6-pack of local IL brews:D:p

CRK's can take a beating...ask me how I know:D;)

They look better like this.

They don't have a forum presence here is all, any longer. That had nothing to do with selling knives. Two different things.

Ok that makes sense. So other than the XM and Sebenza, any other knives I should be really looking at?

Rockstead, Reate, Olamic Cutlery, Shirogorov, customs from André Thorburn, John Arnold, Herucus Blomerus, Andre Van Heerden, JD Van Deventer, Matt Diskin, Bruce Bingenheimer, and many many more. This list could go on for miles:D

Also agree. You're off to good start with the Hinderer.

I'd recommend getting yourself a Gold Membership here and start selling and buying through this forum. I've made countless transactions and all have been exceptional. You're going to try many different production and custom folders and fixed until you settle (if we really do) on the ones you love and use the most.

I pocket a Sebenza 25 most of the time and use it. Wasn't always the case. Had a small Seb 21 first but felt it was too small and just wasn't what I was looking for.

Like others have already said...jump in, learn as much as you can and have fun in the exchange area and welcome to the forum!

Yes I will definitely be getting a gold membership. Thank you for the suggestions! My most recent purchases were a Benchmade Barrage 586, and from the exchange a Zero Tolerance Hinderer 0561, Spyderco Salt H1, and a Bud Nealy Bullet (never owned one but saw it on the exchange and had to have it lol). My wife is now worried about the exchange :D

Welcome to the forum! Awesome first post and a heck of a great expensive first knife to show off! Love my Hinderer knives. I love the spear point in the 18 and Skinner in the 24. Of course you are looking CRK next so you can not go wrong. Thanks for sharing pics and keep all the manufacturers in Oregon straight for us!

After being on this forum for some time now I realize that expensive is relative. With some of the knives I have seen recently I now know this one is cheap!!!

You've only seen the tip of the iceberg:). There are plenty of knives that fetch $10,000-30,000:eek:
