First quick look at the 301 single blades

Received my 301 single-blades today! Very pleased. I decided to carry the yellow one and save the diamondwood knife. There is a slight gap on both knives between the springs and liners on both knives, but I can live with that.
It took about 15 minutes with a diamond hone to get a proper edge on the yellow one. The thing I like best is, it disappears in my pocket and you do not know it is there.

More I think about this, the more I want one:D Just a question of getting a fair shipping rate to Europe.

When it comes out as the 302 will it have the same specifications/finish etc?

Thanks, W

Only thing different on these from the 302 is the blade stamp

303,me also,

Making comments is important when there is a thread on something individuals are interested in. It gives a little market feedback to the Buck folks. At least it plants a seed. Thats why 'everybodies' comments along a thread line are important. And thats why I keep harping on a 303 sized two blade jack. With a clip and slightly smaller sheepsfoot, even better a warcliff blade, on the same end. That would be my perfect everyday EDC. You could cut a gasket for a motor, trim the tail off a trout fly ,whittle a fire stick or even gut a elk (I have seen it done twice with a 303)......in yellow or stag....yes sir.......300Bucks

Don't worry Boys, we'll get your money next year on this one :D

And just when I was ready to try to take one apart and put it back together different...
300Bucks.

Thanks to this thread and the Buck Web Specials I've got a yellow one headed my way ($22). Only my 2nd 300 series Buck and my third knife with a yellow handle. After a Case Trapper and Queen Sodbuster yellow is really starting to catch my eye. The fact this one has a single blade really appeals to me as well since I find that with most of my slipjoints I only really use the main blade any way.

I ordered a yellow last night-hoping it doesnt come with the off center blade that has been reported.

Only found two posts (quick search) about the blade being "slightly off center" or "not perfectly centered" so I'm hoping most are OK. Either way as long as it's not rubbing the side I can live with it though getting a centered one would be preferable.

I'm most anxious to see how it feels in the hand compared to my 301 Chairman series. I don't find the standard 301 large or thick my any means, these just look nice and thin by comparison. Hope my order gets here before Thanksgiving.

I figger the 301 stamped 302 will be and odd item to have and I like the yellow handles. I got comfirmation that my order is in process. I'll keep positive thoughts, thanks Hammer:thumbup: I doubt if mine will be here by Thanksgiving and I go to deer camp on Saturday after TG.

Got mine today and I've very pleased and impressed. Centered, solid and sharp! Fit and finish are top notch and the spring is actually stronger than my 301 Chairman. I like it. The thinner profile really feels great in the hand. Thanks Buck!

I just looked and noticed these are 3 7/8 inches long. I can't believe I don't have one. Yet :D

I just went to the Buck website and these are no longer listed.

I looked at them awhile back, and when I found the size, it really got me interested.

My Buck knowledge is limited, but I am also thinking of picking up a yellow 301 stockman, and am confused at why they would have the same pattern number ?

Check post number one of the thread. ;)

These are great knives, nice tight snap!Mine were perfectly centered with zero blade play.:D

I ordered a yaller one and a black one. Should have went ahead and got the diamondwood as well. I went back to the site to order more and they seem to be all gone, except the Chairman series one and I'm not into those. Probably missed the boat. BTW, mine both lock up just fine and I've been carrying the yaller one, along with a diamondwood 301 (triple header as opposed to the single shot) and my 112 on my belt.
Did I read some place, or just dream it, that there was only a limited number produced to "test the market"?

They are all gone now Jack and according to 300bucks, there were fifty of each made. See post #1 of this thread.

I guess that's where I read it, but, hey, that was a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember what I had for breakfast. I blame it on exposure to Agent Orange. Can't be old age.............

Fifty, huh? Guess I shouldn't be carrying one then. That's OK, I'll use it. Every knife I have is a user.

Received mine today, yella handled. As reported F&F is good considering the price, factory sharpening typical (good) Buck quality.

Minor gripes - pivot pins visible on both ends, slight gap between backspring and liners near the blade end pivot pin, and the clip blade is slightly too short, proportionally, for full length stockman pattern w/o secondary blades.

All in all it's a working knife, and is going to be treated as such. The blade grind is very functional, and I like 420HC so I'm quite happy with the purchase.
