I just ordered my first new Spyderco-Tenatious plain edge. I have read on this forum that it is a great sub $50 knife. I plan to use it for EdC. Was this a good choice? My EDC now is a Blur. I wanted to try something different.

Tenacious was my first Spyderco, too.

I wasn't a big fan of it, but at the very least it was a great way to try out the awesome Spyderhole opening system.

You'll like it! iv never so much as held somthing from spyderco that wasn't top notch!

i prefer the delica. its so lightweight, you wont even know its there and its about the same size. not to mention it looks nicer.. in my opinion. although the delica isnt sub $50 and i wouldnt pass up any spyderco. i've owned more spyderco's than any other brand. i love them

kind of a downgrade from the blur as far as steel goes isn't it? S30V to 8cr13mov

8cr13mov is a good steel, i wouldn't call it downgrading. s30v can be a pain in the butt to sharpen, although it will hold an edge for longer. i guess it all depends on how you're gonna use it.

Different strokes. I much prefer the g10 on the tenacious.

I bought my first Spyerco yesterday too, a Resilience. It is a very smooth operating knife and also very, very sharp right out of the box. I love it and for the price I cannot think of a better quality knife. I only paid $59!!!

Tenacious is a nice sub $50 knife. He did not mention s30v Blur, more than likely he has a 14c28n blade. Still a nice steel and I believe superior to 8cr13mov. I have both and like them as well.

8Cr13Mov, while lackluster, when compared to higher end stuff with more wear resistance, is still no joke. It doesn't have the best edge retention, but can get incredibly sharp. While not saying much, some of the sharpest edges I've made have been on this steel. Also the Tenacious is quite ergonomic and sports a very utilitarian blade profile. I think you made a good purchase, and will enjoy it a great deal.

I'm not sure what my Blur is- I doubt it's s30v. :o. My other folder is a Robert Carter in 154cm but it's more of a folding BK2 so it doesn't get carried much. I would hate to loose it!

It's a really good knife, though I don't find it appealing aesthetically, and I don't dig the spydie-hole, never been a fan of hole openers.

Can we see pics of your Blur? If it is s30v it will say it on the blade as well as have a flat grind vs. a hollow grind. Speaking of course on the newer Blur's.

its a great knife, had one for about 2 years.
nowadays i'm not that into heavy duty folders, so i doubt i will replace it.

I have had this knife for a few days. I don't like it. I need something that rides deeper in my pocket.

The tenatious is a great knife at any price point. You get almost 3.5 inch blade. Spyderco super sharp. Under $33
I have nothing bad to say about it. I like mine so much that I bought the Reiliance. Now that's a big knife. I'm a meat cutter. And I have countless amounts of animal muscle, tendons, and small bones from chickens. The tenatious goes threw chicken bones like a small cleaver. They make great 7 inch long 4 inch deep cuts. Holds an edge the longest out of all my other brands. With the exception of my crkt M16-04.that is sharp...... Be happy and use it like it was your hardcore beater. 9 months and still goin strong. Wen your done with your tenatious check out there resilience model.

The tenacious is a downgrade from a blur you should check out a Kershaw knockout , piston spyderco manix 2 or cold steel American lawman, recon1or voyager for the same price range as tenacious the rat 1 or utilitac.

why so many tenatious haters. holy crap for the past 5 years it has been one of the most poupular folders ever. look everbody, just because we now have better knives (para 2 millie manix 2southard zt etc.) does not mean the tenatious is bad. it is a great choice to test spyderco's style. so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
