Huge Grant,
A fine looking collection. It is hard to ever get enough of HI knives for sure. I agree on the medical grade of mineral oil. I use it on all handles too, but wipe it off after it soaks in a bit. I wanted to ask about that gorgeous sheath. I love how that looks, could you order this from HI or was it special made? Thanks.

Thank you steve, david and phil... I'll be keeping an eye out for any/all of those!

And sawgrass... I'm assuming you mean the wooden sheath in my pic? That came with the Chainpuri, however it is loose... which really isn't a big deal to me.

Yep, that is the one. Loose or not, it is one very gorgeous sheath. I am envious. Good collection you have. Thanks.

NP. I have seen quite a few Chainpuri in the DOTD with the same sheath at great prices... keep an eye out and good luck!

My Kagas Katne is very angry at me for always forgetting to include her in group photos... she just reminded me in the middle of recycling some boxes. So as not to insult her any further, here she is:

Yes, she's a little larger than the normal size... about 8" total. I believe she also has a unique sheath as well. Anyone know what material that is? Bone of some type, I assume.

If the looseness of the sheath gets to be an annoyance you can glue a strip of leather inside, near the opening. Insert blade to test the thickness of the leather before gluing.

I've found that wood scabbards tend to fit more loosely than the standard scabbards. The latter are thin slabs of wood held together by an outer layer of leather. It's probably easier for the sheath-maker to adjust the opening to the blade when the more flexible leather is binding the slabs together.

Here is my HIKV collection…no cure for the infection, so I might as well keep going…:)

Thx Steve Tall for upload the the photos,
Could you mind providing the price range respectively whether they are 16oz or 32oz.
Such information is just useful for us as a reference.

Oh my, awesome collection! Thanks for showing, that's inspirational.

Thanks, but I have a "baby" collection, compared to some of the other individuals with "advanced" HIKV...lol

Yeah, it's an expensive and addictive hobby.

I can't really agree with the expensive part. I come back and buy knives when my money is running low from buying guns. Heck of a lot cheaper to buy HI and Spyderco than guns. But I'll always be a gun collector first... just bought a SCAR 17 a few months ago. That was $2500+ for just one rifle. Then you have to buy mags at almost $40 each. And a $400 match trigger. And sling and replacement parts for things you don't like quite well enough. Then $1000-$3000 for an appropriate scope.

Still think knives are an expensive hobby? (And let's not even let the motorcycle or vintage car people get started or this will really get ugly!)

yeah thats what happened to me-- I was a gun collector who came to HI, and suddenly realized-- for the same price as I pay for a single mass production, machine made factory gun, of which there are thousands and thousands -- I can buy dozens of one of a kind HI blades, or even antiques that cannot be made again, that had more time and care spent on them and man hours than any gun anywhere on earth made today :D, now antique guns, that is an expensive hobby, though old swords can equal them easily in price.

the soul of an object is directly related to the time the creator spends upon it. HI oozes soul in a totally non creepy way, but in a wow I appreciate the skill and care that goes into this way.

but yeah, that is exactly how I started getting into HI so heavily, I feel like none of these things can be reproduced so I want to have them in my clan a few centuries from now :D

been gearing up for some ridiculous pictures, I have a pretty large gun collection almost entirely inherited save for my pistols, calico's and 10 mosins.

I've also been collecting guns for a long time. At this point I have most of the guns I would like to have, except for the crazy expensive and the purely collector stuff (If I buy a gun, I shoot it). But I've been collecting knives even longer, since I was a little kid, but again there's only so many different kinds of knives that interest me, and I thought that I had most that I wanted. Then I discovered HI, and now I've realized that there's lots more unique HI blades that I still need :-)
