etch to see what you have to make a knife with.

This end my first wip thread. I hope you liked it. I have got a lot from BF and thought I should give some back. I love making damascus. If and when I find time to make knives from this steel I will post them. and as this was my first wip I would love to hear what you think, good or bad. thank you for looking and your input.

Thanks a lot! I get a lot of value from threads like this one, and this one in particular:thumbup::cool:

Cool thread Dave, thanks for posting pics in thumbnails, it sure makes it a lot nicer for us dial up users. I'm really looking forward to seeing a closeup of the deep final etch. Those are going to be some super knives.

Bill

Lovin' every minute of it. These are going to be terrific.

The only part I don't get is the "if and when I make knives from this steel" bit. You're most of the way there!

Roger

thanks Lorien Bill Daniel and Roger I had fun doing it. as for making them into knives I only have 2 of my JS knives done. and I am not a full time maker I have a blacksmith shop to run. so I make knives when I can and those blades or not at the of my list. Thanks again

I really enjoyed seeing the process Dave. I would also like to see the final etch. Looks like it will be a spectacular pattern.

Peter

Thanks Dave.
Beautiful pattern.
You have really contributed a lot to this
forum in your relatively short time here.

Thanks all I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. I was thinking about doing a wip thread on forging a wrought iron penny guard with fire etch.
