First zt (0770) is this normal

. Hello, just got this in. CF around pivot is chipped up. Wondering if this looks normal. Thanks
 
I wouldn't think this to be normal. I dont have a 0770cf, but my 0562cf is perfectly fine. I suggest you send it back for one that's not messed up.


Edit: saw your post saying it's new.
 
No its not normal return it to the vendor and request a new one that they look over before shipping or contact zt directly and they will make it right
 
That doesn't look normal. Contact GPKnives and exchange it with them. If GPKnives is unable to do so, then contact ZT's warranty department, and they should be able to help you out.

Thanks, I didn't think so. I'm sure it doesn't effect function, but for 220.00$ I expected better.
 
Looks like how the gunshow specials look. The fakes being sold as real. Even reputable dealers can fall victim to people buying fakes, then buying real and returning the fake. If they just put it back into stock by someone who don't know the difference, anyone could buy one.

Look at the GPK Web site photo. That's all the info you need. Does NOT look like your knife.

Perfect response. I would do what he suggests.

Sorry your knife wasn't perfect right out of the box. It's never a good feeling.
 
For $220, you SHOULD expect better. $50 Kershaws have better fit and finish than that. Send it back and get what you paid for.

A big chunk of the price was the M390 blade. Still, the CF is chipped and damaged. This model may have some issues. The clip side of mine came with this imperfection but not enough to send back.

I agree. A good bit of the cost is in the material. However, the material in and of itself is just chunks of metal and carbon fiber without the workmanship that goes into making it a knife worth $220. KAI dropped the ball on the OPs knife. That kind of shoddy craftsmanship is unacceptable in a knife that expensive.

when did they start putting jimping on the blade? I would say it could be a returned fake like boris74 mentions but so far I have only seen fakes of the aluminum version surface. This looks like it may have been a legit example that someone failed at pimping it horribly and did the who swaparoony thing. It almost looks as if someone had tried to gouge out the CF to get a grip on the pivot that also looks brushed instead of blasted. Very weird things going on with that knife.
