I was thinkng about taking a dremel sanding wheel to the wood righ by the nail nick to give it a cut away, that should give more purchase to open the blade.

riley, that's a good mod for the opinels. my #7 has the nick right down against the wood, very little metal showing (one of the things i like about it) but it also makes it hard to open the knife when its moist.
the #10 that i had, on the other hand, had alot more metal above the handle, so i never used the nail nick on that.
by the way, i can see that the spey on the case must have been tricky to get to without your mod-and you did a nice job too. very nice and clean. thanks again.

Siguy, THanks, Wish I could say I was responsible But the cat I bought it form here on the forum did that, I think his handle is RevolerGeek, ANd I allso thought he did a great job.
