Fishing, and hunting reports (share yours)

I walked a new property the other day that hasn’t been hunted by the owners in a handful of years and found their tree stand situation is in severe need of help! Don’t put toilet seats in the trees!

This one had me laughing and I labeled it “Double Shitter Stand” on the map lol.

The top one still has the safety handles, just in case things got too rough in camp the night before!

Leaving to kill an Elk in the morning. :) Hopefully back Saturday evening...
Didn't see a thing on Friday evening unfortunately. However, saw plenty of Elk early Saturday morning, and killed a small one. Weather was interesting. Never seen an ice storm after snow at over 9,000' before. Was very difficult to walk quietly when the was a ~1/8" layer of ice over 4-6" of snow. 👎

Got 'er done anyhow, despite the weather, and was back sleeping in my own bed Saturday night after a hairy drive home. :) My EDC2 did all the skinning duty, and some of the disassembly work. Butchered all day Sunday. Barely a loss of edge keenness in the process!

I'm really proud of this one!
Awesome man lever gun too!

My buddy's 9 year old shot his first buck on the property this morning. It's pretty wild that I've known this friend since he was his son's age. They practice often, the kid put a great shot on it and it didn't run more than 40-50 yards. I remember my friend's dad teaching him how to shoot/hunt some 30 years ago and it's awesome to see it come full circle.

I get pretty anxious/nervous the nights right before I’m leaving for hunting. It’s been a conundrum on which CPK to bring, the DEK1, the FK2 or the UF2 but after a lot of pondering, I’m gonna strap the FK2 on my belt in the morning.

Other knives in tow? Probably a slipjoint for the pocket and I always carry a small semi-skinner made by Bret Dowell in my pack, it never leaves.

FK2, good choice. Good luck too. Late season starts Thursday, I get four more days and one more chance 😁
