Fishing, and hunting reports (share yours)

Had planned to head out to the far northeast corner of CO for a long fishing/camping weekend. But the weather wasn’t wanting to cooperate, we didn’t want to tent camp boondock it with wind, snow, rain, and lows below freezing.

Oh well. Stayed home, and just fished a local lake this morning instead with my wife, youngest, and buddy. It was pretty cool mostly, temperature was about 38º until around 11:30 when the sun finally burned off the clouds.

Maybe this was a good luck symbol at the boat ramp? ;)

Today was probably the best day we’ve ever had at this lake!!! We brought home 4 limits of fish, most of them well above the 18” minimum, and a couple at 21” too. We started at just before 8am, and limited by 12:30! Only had a couple shorts we threw back, and lost 2 other good fish at the boat.

Not too shabby!

Sounds like an awesome day!

A bit overdue on the Memorial Day fishing trip report.

Fishing at Glendo was a bit tough this year. But we had great weather! The warm winter didn’t even cap the lake in ice, so the Shad (baitfish) managed to overwinter and the walleye still had plenty to eat. They weren’t in their normal spots, and the ones we found wouldn't bite.

On day 2, we did manage to find one spot where we were getting some bites, but nothing compared to usual. Quite a few Sauger, which are generally smaller and thinner than Walleye. A warden stopped by our campsite Saturday evening, and said he’d only seen 2 fish caught in the groups he’d talked to Friday and so far Saturday. We were getting ready for our fish fry, and had 23 keeper sized fish so far in our group of 4 boats… 😎

(Walleye is fish #5 from bottom, the others are Sauger, and 2 Crappie on top)

Good trip despite the tougher fishing. I needed the break!
