Fishing, and hunting reports (share yours)

Hard Knocks Hard Knocks Do you have any more pictures of that bear? I'm curious about what the rest of it looked like.

Please do. Here or in hunting report thread

Hello gentlemen. Here are a few pics that I can share. This bear had some fat, but was very lean for this time of year, and was not a large bear overall. I'd guess that if it did survive the winter it would not have made another year. I can only contribute its condition to it being so ancient and not feeding well, as the frame and feet point to an animal that was larger in earlier life.

We spent most of the day today looking for this guy....

Hunting the same area today as last week when ^ that pic was taken, we found this cow elk that had been killed by a lion. It's much too close an area to think a different cat had done it although I could be wrong. Couldn't come up with it, even though a hard effort was made and I think it was treed, but with the dry conditions the scent is so poor that the dogs were unable to make the final locate.

Reminds me of when I was 14 yrs old, fishing out of Seadrift, Tx down by Pt O'Connor. Going out to the sandbars, wadefishing. Specs and reds were always the primary catch. Not much better eating than redfish.

Thank you Brian, You are a true gentleman and a scholar Sir

If we all lived closer, I would host a fish fry, and whole hog roast some Saturday and we would eat and visit and cut stuff. To bad the miles are such a reality.

I can smell the salt air now

I think about stuff like this a lot. I've even thought about a chartered get-together ocean fishing trip like the stuff you just posted. It would be hard to put together but so cool if it worked out sometime.

Here is a video of the White Marlin my son caught last week. Main glimpse is around 1:15 and 1:22. I did not realize we had to release it until it was done. I was hoping to at least boat it for pictures.

That's awesome!

I'd be down for that! And/or we can add what's left of this to the fish fry. I was fortunate enough to get this one several weeks ago at San Clemente Island. Good times.

Sounds like a neat idea..... Keep up that train of thought. I would help with something like that. People get together for various things. Why not a common interest in CPK. For instance, charter a boat or 2, set up dates, and if 4, 6 or 10 people wanted to go fishing together... what a good time that would be. Salmon fishing in Washington, Salt water in Hateras NC, or whatever.... One thing, summer is king for saltwater... Tuna is king in June, not sure about salmon out west....

I would gladly host a outdoor weekend / eat meat till your sick at our place mid-country... But something like a fishing trip may generate more energy and commitment...

That's what I was thinking as well, since it would take some numbers to make it happen on a charter.

A trip/get-together like that might be doable sometime since folks would by and large be responsible for their own accommodations outside of the charter, i.e. not a large amount of work placed on any one individual at the time of the get-together. I agree that summer would be best whether east or west, and I'd be good with either direction.

Very nice sir! That is a beautiful fish. I'd love to lay into a large tuna sometime.
