Qeth, if you want to rack up some points in another fashion, I'm open to that too. I just didn't want weights to be mandatory.

Oh nice, then mayhap I still have a chance to throw up some numbers. I do heavy weights for strength and power, and circuits with kettlebells, bodyweight, and other fun toys for conditioning. This contest may get me to run again, but my ankle's been iffy since I sprained it during the last MYB I joined (sprain was unrelated to the running).

i wear my fitbit for stats, but not necessarily for beating them. baseline data.

I work a hard manual labor job landscaping and removing trees, so I get a good bit of exercise daily throughout my work week. I'll start going on long walks and running on my treadmill for at least a half hour each day and I'll integrate some weight lifting into it. I guess I'll try to work back up to my two hours of running each day that I used to do back in high school. I could stand to loose about thirty pounds of fat and put about twenty pounds of muscle on again. After about two weeks, I'll buy some 50 lb. weights. This might just be what I need to get through it. Count me in!

Cut down a pine tree today. Six feet in diameter and about sixty feet tall. Loaded the logs into a trailer and hauled almost all the wood from it after chipping the brush and cutting the logs with a Stihl saw with a thirty inch bar. Took about four hours. Then I walked about four miles. Not a bad start.

I worked landscaping in AZ (among a few other outdoor jobs there, window washing and concrete), and I know exactly what type of work you're talking about. My forearms were the best they've ever been while working landscaping (I ran a hedge trimmer for 4-6 hours per day, then debris cleanup), as the job does keep you in pretty good shape. It was hard for me when I transitioned to office work, as it doesn't give the same "look at what I accomplished today" type of feedback that the landscaping/other manual labor jobs did. Took a while to adjust.

Personally though, I have given up on running. I played competitive soccer for about 15 years, did cross country in high school, etc. My knees are still ok, but I'm pre-emptively giving up on running (as a standalone exercise), I still play pickup soccer games twice a week that I don't count) just to make sure they still work by the time I hit 40 :p. My entries for cardio will all be cycling (mix of mountain/road). But even in High School I never ran for two hours a day, an hour straight... easily. But two hours solid of running is a LOT. As its been mentioned, ease into that, I'd hate to see anyone get hurt by ramping up too quickly.

I did 17 miles on my bike on Saturday, and played Futsal (kind of like soccer) for an hour and a half last night, and still feel horribly out of shape. When things start for this competition, I'll see if I can make the rides more than just once weekly/increase some distance (30-50 miles would be more than I've ever done, and seems feasible).

Anyway, I've also looked up the hundredpushups thing, and plan to do my "baseline" sometime this week. Then we'll see what happens.

Thanks again Falcon .

Oooh how fun! I'm nursing a weird hip injury, so I can't commit yet but if I can't do it I'm gonna cheer y'all on!

Took a thirty minute walk yesterday and did about 150 reps with 20 lb weights. 70 reps in one pull, with both arms. Just a small start. 100 situps before going off to bed for work the next day.(today)

Hopped on the scales today. 213.8lbs. Been doing 2 miles, push-ups to failure, and crunches on a ball every morning since the start of this thread. Hopefully I can work up my fitness by the end of October  my goal by the end of this challenge is to be at or under 200lbs.

Took out two Walnut trees today and trimmed a third. Lifted, wheel barrowed, and loaded probably about 1200-1500lbs of cut logs (30-80+lbs.) into a truck. I moved each in a wheelbarrow about fifteen feet before unloading them.. Dragged lots of heavy brush and limbs (some 100lbs.) and raked a yard. Took a short walk home from work. I just did 100 consecutive sit-ups. Debating more. :p
I'd like to integrate more cardio into my routine. I have a goal set to loose at least 10lbs before first snow up here in Michigan.

Edit: I forgot to mention my 40 pushups :p

Don't get discouraged. I tried some pushups two days back and only did forty. Two sets of twenty. Try starting with some 25lb dumbbells or if you can, 2 50lb dumbbells and lay on your bed or the floor and push them up like your benching and try for 20-60+ at a time. that will get those back arms back to seasoned. Keep it up TBL.
Maybe tomorrow I'll try to do 100 pushups and do as many reps as I can to failure. I'll see how my arms are after that. I need to get those 50 lb. weights..

Got new noblest ever timberland work boots this weekend then spent six hours breaking concrete with a sledge hammer, and also flinging it... Behold my field of Crete ...

Super busy lately...

Dropped 40 lbs this Summer.

20-30 more?

Cardio :)

Wait, this started? Crap...

Damn, I hope not. Although with a baseline within a couple thousandths of zero, I have nowhere to go but up......unless negative numbers are involved . I suppose I could spend the entire month of October drinking copiously and taking up smoking cigarettes.....but I don't really care for smoking . . . cigarettes. Lotsa suds would definitely put me into negative territory, though. Why does beer have so many damn calories? Inquiring minds....

Speaking of which: Crim, I hope you'll lay out a (slightly less ambiguous) schedule for us to follow so we know when the OFFICIAL start of this thing is. I don't thing KingMC is the only one who's a tad....unsure (points finger at self....;)....)

Go get 'em, fellas! Hope you all manage to achieve your fitness goals, whatever they happen to be.

This post is throwing me off, does this mean it has started or that you are just encouraging early starts and it'll actually start when the OP says it will in late October?

Nope, it's not started yet. But if you want to get an early start and shake some of the cobwebs off, be my guest.

Couldn't sleep tonight, so I decided to get started.

Did week 3 column 3 of the hundredpushups.com schedule. I could have pushed myself harder and started a bit farther ahead, but looking ahead I wasn't sure if I could do all of week 4 "cold turkey".

Also, played 1hr and 45 min of Futsal on Monday evening.

And side note, for kicks I did some quick math, and discovered that I've ridden my bike ~1300 miles in the past two and a half years commuting (sounds more impressive than it is, I live just over a mile from work). I've yet to drive a car to work though.

Anyway, thanks for the contest/motivation falcon .

Thanks for the vote of confidence brother!

I can get to 40 in a row before I'm done. Been doing it twice a day. Still need to go check out that website. The muscles still have memories, just need to make em remember.
