The thread being locked "finishes" at a certain time, i.e. exactly when it opens. It opens when the official US Time is 12:00 pm (my time), exactly. I don't know if you have followed the exact US Official NIST time when these knives become available, but I have and they become available at 12:00:00 p.m., not 12:00:01 p.m. Writing a script to respond to a known posted thread in a known forum under a known username (your own) is IMO doable plain and simple. I do not have the LINUX/UNIX skills myself, but I do have 13+ years in computer forensics and I am telling you that ignoring the possibility is a mistake. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)

as a longtime loser on Nathan's sales myself, I appreciate what you are suggesting. I often find myself wishing everyone (myself included) would just do the "right" thing. Problem is "right" means different things to each of us. I think Nathan has a good approach to all of this, but I still want an edc, and an LC and the upcoming SK :) I just have to tell myself that I already own too many knives :eek:
Meanwhile, you expressed your views respectfully and so do most others here, and that speaks very well for general decorum at CPK!

Oh, that's great to know. Then for some reason my iMac clock is NOT synced up with NIST. Thank you for the info which will be very handy for the SK's come up in a few months :)

Grats to all the winners!

Obviously the winner was not me using a different name, I have never taken 2 and waited until further sales to get my multiples in out of respect to the community.

Nathan has stated that multiples is fine, and I really understand why someone might do it who is international to save on shipping so it's buyers prerogative at this point.

Casino, I know this may come as a shock to you, being the very chatty community oriented guy you are.... but some people might ONLY come to the forum to buy the knife, not chit chat. As this is the only way to get Nathan's knives, eventually someone is gonna come here from another place like Reddit or something and maybe buy multiples or even proxy for people there. The local community norms may be of no concern to them.

As Chris said, if it comes down to script buying maybe then Nathan will change it, maybe he will lose some interested people as they feel they can't compete, but that is what Nathan wants so we have to respect it.

I doubt anyone particularly cares, but that's all I have to say about that.

It would be nice to have some alternative method of getting in line for one of these. I work during the day West Coast time and can't plan on being at my desk at any given time.

Today was a fluke and I didn't even come close.

I am not west coast and I still can't be sure I'll be parked in front of my computer at the right time. And twice on LC sale days I was traveling, don't own a smart phone and I was seriously trying to figure out if I would be at a rest stop with wifi at the right time :p
Lorien and Nathan - I guess you could say some of us obsess about your knives :)
 
I think I should become a CPK dealer. Maybe I can get some exclusives from Lorien as promotional material. kleenex or something I dunno...
 
I hate NOT to participate in these sales. They're fun. That's why I had pledged that if I won one, it would be proxied, to the first non-winner. No harm, no foul (except for Lorien's phallic referencnes, lol). These sales are really habit forming.
 
Well I made first page which seems like an achievement already. A preorder thread would definitely be nice.

Dude, you're talking about me...I ordered 2 of the 5 Field Knives. One for me and one for my older brother Chris. It's not "bad form" or "bad precedence", it's your opinion. Nathan has said, first come first served. I did nothing wrong...
 
Then don't hate on someone snatching all five on the next sale.
 
Congrats to the winners!! Can't wait to read about these getting put to use. Hopefully work will not call me away next time.

If you're talking to me, i won't. I have no problem if all the knives sell to one person for the next 10 years. Don't be sour puss.. btw, i was talking to Casino, not you :thumbdn:
