Fixed Blade as EDC?

I carry one I made. I find it more handy then a folder.

I carry SOG field pup
I'm sick I know :) but I haven't found any suitable folder yet

I use a TOPS scalpel or BM Activator as my small fixed along with whatever folder I would be carring also.

I got Cold Steel 3" Culloden and carry it cometimes in its neck sheath. Shove hand under my sweater, then with a "clunk" produce the blade. I feel a bit uncomfy about it. I must admit, appearance of folder is less dramatic.

I have been carrying a Dozier New York Special horizontally on my belt. Very handy.

Farrell3, how do you carry your Tops Scalpel...in the sheath provided?

Ever since I got one from Scott at Razorback Knives, I have really gotten into small fixed blades for EDC, I rotate between his, a Charles May FireAnt and now I have an Ontario RAT-3.

Bark River Mikro. Thinking I will step up a bit in size though.

I never thought that I would be comfortable with a fixed blade EDC. Once you find the right way to carry it (horizontal on belt for me), it works really well.

I wish I could carry a fixed blade everyday but with a suit it's a nuisance. On the weekends I do EDC a Dozier Modified Personal with a belt worn horizontal Kydex sheath.

Currently, I often EDC one of the following fixed blades:

Right now there's quite some rotating going on here, but as soon as my new pikal custom arrives, it will become my fixed blade EDC.

Yes. Inside the waist. Button down shirts have approximately .75" between the sheath and clip where you can tuck the shirt in. Only visible part is the clip itself, which is under the belt.

My activator is worn the same way. I had an old cell phone clip screwed through the belt loop that let me clip it but it caught and snapped. Remade with the clip from one of my old retractable tape meaures. Unscrewed it and bolted through the same hole, works much better.

Well, assuming its legal, I'd carry it on the waist. I've carried a Chax knives Keemosabe Jr. on the waist at the buckle (kinda like they suggest you carry the Clinch Pick). Made for a great EDC position as it was right up front and didn't get in the way. I've also carried a Jame McGowan Nek2 on the belt (3 o'clock), and would like to carry a Chax knives Pistolero on belt (~7-8 o'clock). That's me though.

I think a fixed can make a good EDC, but I'd still carry a folder for times when pulling a fixed blade isn't a real good idea.

My EDC knife is an "Urban Skinner" (Safekeeper III) from Cold Steel.

It's a single-edged blade less than 3" in length, with a speed sheath and a substantial checkered Kraton grip. Legal to carry concealed most places, and extremely effective. From a relaxed standing position, I can draw this blade and have it in the practice target in under a second. So light you barely know it's there. . .

I supposed it'd work fairly well as a utility blade too.

One of Don Cowles' beauties. Almost pocket jewelry, but they cut and cut and cut. My bog oak knife will take anything I am liable to run into on a daily basis.

I work in a stables so you need to have a good knife. Depending on my mood or what I think I might need that day, I will generaly carry one of these three.

If I'm not expecting heavy cutting and want show off a bit I carrry this Chris Peterson. :D

For the those more intense, thankless jobs I carry this TAK1.

But most days I carry this little guy by Dale Lennon. Simple and sharp. :)

I like that little knife you made yourself Scott.
Man, jm that is to pretty for edc. ;)

I picked this Ed Caffrey EBK up in the Exchange last month(thanks, James Falor) and it is fast becoming my EDC. Preston
