I prefer a small fixed blade for edc! I like the simplicity and strength of a fixed blade. I also like the ability to clean them easily after using them....not a lot of nooks and crannies to fill up with stuff.
I have recently been edc'ing a Michael Burch fixed blad and a little fixed blade from Brian Goode! They are both GREAT little knives! I highly recommend these guys work!!
I recently acquired a Spyderco Ronin. I like it because it is actually faster to deploy than my longtime pal, the Yojimbo . I only wear it on days that I leave a shirt untucked though, because of the inverted way I wear it. I've been eyeing the Benchmade Activator(I'm becoming more and more a fan of Snody's designs) as well, because it seems very well-suited to work tasks that would otherwise gunk up and make slippery my usual folders. Easier to clean too.
For the last couple of weeks its been a Chris Reeve Neil Roberts ,in their after market leather sheath, on my left @ cross draw.
One my right side is a Fallkniven F1GM in a modified dangle sheath. My neck knife for the past couple of years is a Camillus Mini-Talon in talonite.
I have no idea what combination I will be carrying next week or next month but I usually carry at least 2 fixed blades, a neck knife, a Sebbie or Aftermath in my right pocket (front).
FWIW, I have had a Sebenza and a S.E.R.E both come open while carrying them in a back pocket...cut clothing, and cut hand. I will never carry another tip up in my back pocket!
I've never become completely comfortable with carrying a fixed blade as EDC, although I own many. I always seem to be fiddling with the sheaths, moving them around on my belt. There's just no sweet spot on my belt for horizontal carry, and the vertical carry is just a bit too conspicuous for my taste.
My Anso is the closest Ive found to the perfect fixed blade EDC. It rides comfortably in one of Jens horizontal Kydex sheaths.
Well, I work in an office, so I don't normally EDC a fixed blade. After work or on weekends I will grab one sometimes though. When I do it is either a BM 210GG with a conselex sheath made by Normark, or a "Lil Caper" kneck knife from AG Russell.
I actually have 3 EDC's that I rotate. The top two are D2 and the bottom is O1. Two with stag and the other is ram horn. The top two sheaths are set up for a Sure Fire lite. The bottom is a pocket sheath but I also have a belt sheath that holds a firesteel.

I know what you mean about getting excited about buying a small fixed blade for EDC. May I recommend Bob Dozier's knifes. I just got my first Dozier and could not be more pleased. Top notch craftmanship, great materials, and designs intended to solve problems. No frills, simply effective. www.dozierknives.com.
I have been carrying a AL Polkowski Polecat in a IWB sheath. Works good with a pull over shirt. Would like to find a small fix blade to carry on my belt for summer. Ordered a Sean O'Hare River knife, but said it would not be ready till Dec.
