Recommendation? Fixed Blade EDC Advice

IIRC you are in Germany. The GEK EDC* was made to specifically comply with the fixed blade knife law in your country. Bowie-style clip, swedge and as close to the limit as can be etc.
It has detachable micarta scales, so you can put what ever your want on there. The knife can be had with either closed or skeletonized scales and with PE or SE. Scale colors are brown, black, OD.
You can also get the knife in Böhler K110 (D2), if you shop around for an Eickhorn GEK EDC instead of the more recent Böker. Eickhorn is non-stainless (but with an extremely tough coating), the Böker is stainless Böhler N690.
The Eickhorn can be had new from for example eflay and some vendors.
I prefer the K110 Eickhorn and have used mine for camping, hiking etc for years. I really like the knife.

There are of course sources in Germany but they are not forum supporting vendors, so here the knife from KC

…...or you could just buy a F.A.R.T:D (Faboulous Awesome Rhino Tip) from Buschknives

*German Expedition Knife EDC. The little brother to the bigger GEK.
Who doesn't love a good FART

Hey mate,

A buck woodsman sounds like it fits your criteria? Not much in the way of wow factor but a very functional knife and definitely has the ‘bowie’ styling.

Upgraded steels and handle materials are available if you shop around.

My favorite fixed blade to carry every day is a Busse Anniversary Mean Street. It’s just about perfect for me, but it’s not a clip point and doesn’t have fullers.

The mini Tg has fullers, but it’s still a drop point.

Appreciate all the suggestions so far. And I didn't know there was a Mini Team Gemini, unfortunately it's too long blade length wise, which is a shame because I dig the look.

The current plan is thinking it over during the weekend, get my own design from napkin sketch into a decent drawing. See what it might cost to get done, if it's not too much more than my budget I might just get something custom from a maker on here, if not, I will get one of the suggestions, something within my budget and try it out for a few months and see how I like carrying a fixed and maybe get a custom once I've decided FB carry is for me.

That’s a good plan.

I really enjoying fixed blade carry and with a sak I feel I cant’ go wrong. Enzo necker and Vic Huntsman for me.

Good luck with the custom!

I can see myself adding a slippy to the mix as well, I never got the "Big Folder+Small Folder Double Carry" but Fixed+Folder makes certainly sense. I'd probably go with something like a CK/Lionsteel single blade in the 3" range for the slipjoint. As mentioned before, I am used to carrying a fair bit in my pockets anyway (Wallet, Phone, 1 set of keys with 5 keys, 1 set with ~12 keys one of them a larger one for junction boxes, 1-2 screwdrivers, set of hex drivers, small pipe wrench, pen, folding knife and a small flashlight) since I ditch the larger set of keys and tools, I wouldn't be a big deal to carry a fixed blade and a folder.
I'll post the final picture of my design over the weekend, get some input, I got it down to how I want it to look overall but need to fiddle with the dimensions a bit more and get things scaled to a point that I am happy with.

I'd check out carothers field knife or there 3" edc.
If not, TRC K1 is a fantastic european made knife

I like a good fixed blade when applicable. I find that a shorter blade fixed blade can outwork a folder with a longer blade for some reason. Maybe it's the fact that it can have a longer handle to blade ratio for leverage. Maybe it's just all in my head:D

I carry a Fiddleback Forge Hiking Buddy that was hand spun by Andy. It's been on my hip for several years. It's sub 3", but I requested a knife as such for everyday out in public use. If I'm looking to carry something I'm going to wang on a bit, I have a couple of Himalayan Imports belt knives like the JKM-1 that are stout and didnt cost a great deal. Good for dirty work. That said, it appears I have lost them all somewhere in the garage:D

The mall ninja in me is kinda digging on the Gerber Ghoststrike for a small stainless beater.

I think the RMJ Tactical UCAP would be a great choice, I have one of their tomahawks, the quality of their products is some of the best by far.

My favorite EDC fixed blade is the JK knives EO1 Hunter its an awesome little knife and I carry it in a pocket sheath with no problems.

I know you mentioned you prefer a clip blade ... I can't give you much advice on that style blade ...

but I can second the LT Wright Outback it is a great size to carry comfortably and it is a great user ...

The Bradford 4.5 is another I like alot ... the handle is a bit longer if you have smaller hands it may not be as comfortable ... it is on the bottom ... the top is a Carothers EDC2 ... the middle is a Blind Horse Knives Foxhound ...2019-02-04 13.59.53.jpg
LT Wight GNS ...

Winkler has some nice knives that may fit ... I don't have a picture handy but I do use mine often.

I think a 3" Lionsteel fixed would work or slightly larger. They make a good knife.

For me, about the biggest knife I would be willing to carry on my belt is the White River Backpacker Pro at 3.25". The factory sheath works too. I like the small Dozier fixed blades with his highly functional horizontal kydex belt sheath which most people would never even notice on your belt.

There are gobs of knives made in the 3-4" size if you are comfortable with vertical belt carry as an EDC.

I would just get one each of all the above mentioned knives and call it a day.

I mean, how cool would it be to wake up everyday and get to choose from all these great choices. What more could one ask for?

And just throw them into a bucket with a lid and just grab one so it's a surprise knife every day? :D
