Recommendation? Fixed Blade EDC Advice

I forgot to mention, I had the guardian 4.5 but only for a few hours before returning it. I loved the look of the knife and wanted something in 3v but the handle just didn't play nice with my hands. I wear a small/medium size glove fwiw. If I wasn't so happy with my Altitude(s) I would pull the trigger on either the Lionsteel M1 that's been in my cart for almost a month or try to get get my hands on the Carothers EDC. I tried getting one from the last batch but I was too slow. Third place for me would be the Nyala. I also have the schrade sch55 in my cart on Amazon after reading through the thread on here.

After a bit more looking around the Fox Njall that hasn't been on my radar seems quite compelling. Quite the right shape, steel I like enough, micarta, leather sheath, less than half the budget.
Might be a good option.

You blade requirements put you into a category that I'd deem "huge" for every day carry of a fixed blade. Since I'd never in a million years carry a fixed blade larger than an izula in my daily life I'll offer only one piece of advice. THE SHEATH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE KNIFE.

Personally I'd look for something horizontal with pull the dot soft loops.

You're right about the sheath, part of the reason why I was leaning towards leather over Kydex. I like the horizontal idea, shouldn't be too hard to mod if need be though.

Have a look at Armatus Sheaths. Have one for my Guardian 3.5 and it is great. Going to be picking one up for my Guardian 3 Sheepsfoot soon as well.

I bought a blade that's his take on a puukko. Fit and finish are superb. Steel choice is limited. He does both Kydex (what I have/fit is perfect) and leather sheaths. What I bought would fall in your budget. Might be worth a look. www.isleyblades.com and he is a knifemaker/member here under Isley.

the ruike jager is just about perfect from your original specs...
4.33″ (bladehq lists it at 4.5"), under 9 overall 14c28n sandvik steel (same as the garberg) with a ffg & decent kydex sheath with a pivot so horizontal or vertical or 45 degree carry is possible : )
