Fixed Blade EDC

I've put in far too many hours of research on this recently... but what I keep coming back to the Izula and Rat 3, they both are such solid designs and a big part is how versatile their carry method is without any custom sheaths or modifications.

How about a Fallkniven F1?

have a look at my post, 7 up from your post.. it's my favorite EDC, and i'd buy another one tomorrow if i lost it or broke it (which isn't likely... she's pretty tough) i keep a small diamond hone glued onto the kydex sheath for touch ups and that knife goes everywhere i do. apples to apples, it's hard to beat... and i've beat it pretty hard. I have used it to make fires and shelters where it's a little short, but it works fine for a knife that doesn't get in the way, and it's a great cutter. a real workhorse.

I have an izula II, a BK 14, and an ESEE 3. I tried and returned the Ontario Rat 3 before I bought the ESEE. I carry either the Izula II or the esee 3 daily. The handle on the bk14 is just a bit too small for me. That's also why I returned the Ontario. The esee is just enough longer in the handle to make all the difference in the world. I carry both in their stock sheathes with a teklok. The izula presents a smaller package, but both knives disappear on your belt. If I had to make a choice, it would depend on where and why I planned on carrying the knife most. The izula's smaller blade is less intimidating to non-knife co-workers. Both are awesome. The izula handle is fatter and feels perfect in hand (at least for me- size L glove but not bear paws), but the versitility of the 3 with the blade choil makes it a wash. You really can't go wrong with either knife, so my suggestion would be to pick the one you think would meet your reasons for edcing a fixed blade to begin with and run with it.

I've experimented some with fixed blades for an EDC. I tried out the Spyderco Moran and didn't care for the sheath for this purpose. Love the knife. Neck knives work okay and in an outdoor environment for me. I carry too much stuff in my pockets for a pocket sheath to be practical without a major revision to what I carry in my pockets. I currently have been periodically wearing a Dozier K-42 Compact Personal with his horizonatal belt sheath. It works for me.

My EDC, a Nick Wheeler pocket fixed blade, 6 inches of 1/8in thick 1084!

Or this when I feel like going a bit more 'heavy duty'

Bud Nealy's knives are very easy to carry and his MCS system is the most secure system I've seen. Al Polkowski's ( RIP) blades are also a great carry and quite alot of knife for such a slim package but the sheaths are straight kydex without rare earth magnets so not quite as secure as Bud's.
But beware that in some jurisdictions you could run into problems with concealed carry laws.
If you can carry without problems wearing a belt sheath, the choices are almost endless.

Swamprat Rodent Solution. 3 1/2" sr101/52100 blade with one of the most comfortable handles made. I convexed the edge on mine and it holds a very very sharp edge a long time.

I really like my A.G. Russell Woodswalker and carry it a lot. It will skin an apple or a wild hog wth ease.

I had a Remy custom EDC which was awesome but I wanted to continue my Spydie collection so i trades it. Right now my Izula 2 is my edc 33% of the time, even at college. I find that i can always do it comfortably and i carry openly per my states laws and never been bothered about it or even got weird looks. it is marginally more comfortable to carry a folder but it's not that noticeable to me.
