I can't find anything in the catalogs for this......maybe somebody knows?

It's certainly not the normal wood.

He can check and see if a chunk of his ironwood is missing.

It is indeed a 2008 192.

I looked through a few catalogs but couldn't find anything like it.

I'd hope so too. I've been looking around a bit more, and I'm seeing some similar knives (192) with a deer cutout in the blade and burl handles described as box elder burl. Looks similar, maybe that's what it is.
 
Yeah, maybe it is box elder.

I've never liked box elder, but this looks almost as good as desert ironwood.

Depends on the particular piece of wood you get, I guess.

The blade seems to have an odd color......reminds me of my namesake steel, BG-42.

Maybe that's just the lighting.
 
I would like to see a better closeup of the handle. The wood in the finished ebay auction looks like some nicely flame grained walnut. I have a walnut gun stock cast-off that has some nice "flames" in it that looks like the auction pictures as well as BG42's picture.
 
Well, I'm the elder that bought it, so we'll see how it looks when it gets here.

That seller is a good guy, BTW......he got it into a smaller box and gave me a refund of six dollars.

I was going to say, as a seller, $11 was excessive. But sometimes it's ebay that does it based on what you put in the auction. I have refunded shipping may a time because ebay was over.
 
If it is model #0192B01-B then per Joe it is Maple Burl. I have two of these however my blade stamping is "192MSU" on one side and "MASTER SERIES BG42" on the other. The wood looks exactly the same as mine and came with black "191" sheaths. Someone got a great deal on that if it is BG42. Even if it isn't they got a good deal.

Edit: Sorry BG42, I did not notice that you got it. You got a great find on that one :thumbup:

Thanks bud, I thought I was going to get handed to the wolves on here over selling this thing ...glad you spoke up for me! To be honest, I have no clue where I got it or the history about it either but, now I know you're the one getting it, that makes it even better!! I wouldn't try and hook anyone over a knife- especially anyone buying a Buck~ no way. :thumbup: It's already in the mail box to you too. Enjoy it, if it's not what you want, send it back and I'll refund you your $ for sure.;)
