Fixed blade only ?

The story that I heard is that when the boys in Berlin decided to pass new draconian (by German standards) knife laws, the very traditional/conservative hunting organizations from places like Bavaria, which apparently still have significant political clout, got them to specifically exclude knives of the traditional hunting fixes blade size from the carry restrictions. They also managed to get the traditional German automatics exlcuded from the general ban. I say obey the law and carry one and everything will be in ordnung. :D:D
Fixed blades are fine as long as the blade is under 12cm long.

In fact for as long as I`m staying in Germany I`ll carry a fixed blade. At the moment a Fred Perrin La Griffe and Pepperspray because it´s gotten unsafe, especially when I`m with my girlfriend, where I moved to 2 1/2 years ago.
But if you want to be real sheeple friendly here carry a SAK. People don`t even consider them knives here. Or go with something ultratraditional like a Nicker.

Technically, carrying any fixed blade concealed in Florida is illegal without a CCW. However, carrying pretty much any fixed blade open is perfectly legal.
I've carried a particular folder for over two yrs. Recently, I purchased a Bradford Guardian3 fixed blade, crossdraw, horizontal belt sheath carry that fits all of my casual needs. It hides very nicely under an open t-shirt here in Florida, and I forget that I have it until I need it.
I still carry my folding knife, but it seldom gets used.

I haven't bought a folder in years and don't see myself anytime soon . Not sure why just wondering if anyone else has the same feelings ?

Nope, can't say that I do. Must as I love carrying a fixed blade like my SP10 or BK9, or any of the others I have in my rotation, I need my folders with me, whether it's my Spydero, or Victorinox, or my folding utility knife.

Like fixed blades, the smaller ones, just so many handy things to do with them and different carry options.i still carry at least a SA knife, it I also want a smaller fixed blade nearby.

Been toting my CPK EDC as of late. It is awesome. Perfect small fixed blade.

I edc a midsize fixed blade and have for years. As a left hander I'm not a fan of folding knives.

I know they're legal under 12cm, but I don't like the attention that they bring in the city and on the trail. Maybe it's a regional thing, like some states in the U.S. being more gun friendly than others? I don't exactly know.

As you say, I usually carry a SAK and/or a slipjoint. Sometimes my Laguiole but I'm afraid to lose that one so it usually stays home.

Where did you get the sheath from if you don't mind me asking.

I carry both, but like Sonnydaze, I generally find myself using whatever fixed blade I'm carrying more. For a long time that was a CRKT Minimalist wharncliffe (still really like that knife). Lately it's either a BK14 I got recently or my LT Wright Frontier Valley.

I do use and carry my folders more, but I really want to carry small-to-medium sized fixed blades. I just hate the fact that so many sheaths are so terrible that you need to go aftermarket immediately, and I have yet to find a good sheath system for carrying IWB beneath a tucked shirt.

That sheath comes with the Guardian and it is excellent! The Guardian 3 is the only fixed blade I have and it is literally fantastic!
Horizontal carry, like in Don's pic, is extremely comfortable and handy! I use mine for a work knife and it is a beast!! Guardian's 3v is flat out tough!!
Love it!

Thanks PaloneJ. I was looking st their site and noticed one of the blade finishes is something called "NIMBUS". A black stonewash?? How does it hold up?

I'm lucky enough to live in Arkansas where you could EDC a sword if that's your thing. With virtually no knife laws, I just don't see the practicality in not carrying a fixed blade. Of course a SAK or other multitool doesn't count.

That's the finish I have and after beating on mine it still looks new!
Tough and attractive finish!!
