Not really a bushcraft kinda guy.... more of a slicing cheese and baloney for a sub sandwich kinda guy. :D

What about a Koster Buschcraft or the recent Spyderco Buschcraft.....um....vox knives....JK knives....Breeden knives....the WS&S section has great pictures of a lot of great fix blades

John (JK) makes some excellent knives and he can make just about anything you think of. Also, take a look at Blind Horse Knives. L.T and Dan make some amazing custom knives and the prices are just unbeatable.

why dont you get a victorinox kitchen knife then...then get custom micarta or G10 scales for it and then you'll have a baloney slicer you like.:D

I'd go with Dozier or Randall myself. Of course I always wanted a Carter too.

Lets see, off of the top of my head, all of these manufacturers make fixed blades.

Tops
Buck
Ranger
Boker
Dozier
Randall
Gerber
Carter
Camilus
Case
Schrade--Seen the new Extreme survival. 1095 steel and nice for $37.00
Blackjack
Benchmade

In using knives, boring is good. Knives are extremely simple tools. We've had thousands of years to work out designs that perform well. "New and exciting" is just a gimmick that comes at the expense of usefulness.

The other one I have considered very seriously is the Ritter RSK Mk 3.

It looks like a great design and I can say from experience that the Ritter folders are great cutters.

It is S30V though, but I wont hold that against it. :D

Rostafrei may be?
If scrapyeards are expensive then O1, A2 is pretty much custom only territory so it'll be pretty hard..

New Blackjacks are A2
Mission knives has some A2 knives, not just Ti blades
Ferman, 3V pure quality, from the low hundreds on up.
Ranger, all sizes and several styles in 1095 and 5160
Ontario Gen 2 (SP45) 8" of 5160 for $59.95 ( most bang for buck)
Becker 1095 stuff, different sizes and prices
last but not least the new Spyderco Bushcraft in O-1 ( my choice, just above 5160 Rangers or ontarios

I can't believe you say scrapyard is to expensive. IMO $130 for the Scrapper 5 is a very fair price. You get a limited production knife in a quality carbon steel with a superb handle shape and material (resiprene C) and lifetime warranty. What's not to like?

thats the great thing about knives though, there is something for everybody. And if there isnt you can pay someone to make it.

I prefer a guard, single integral ideally.
I like clip points/bowies

Check out GL Drew.

Just keep an eye on the custom exchange. Wait. Your knife will be along shortly. Lots of good makers.

Out of custom maker's on this board, Fiddleback is the only one I have a knife from. I like it much. He has a shipment of knives about to go out to Knives Ship Free for your shopping convenience. There are pics on this board.

I liked my knife enough to buy another for my Dad.

Show me where....
