Fixed blade suggetions (with provisos!)

Another impossible Durbanite:D

Come now bro what you really want is a new Busse Bushwacker Mistress:)
$347-00 direct from Busse for 10 1/4" of INFI goodness. thats $30-00 a inch...What a deal!!......You owe it to yourself for Xmas

Either that or a nice Large Case Stockman....Now thats a real knife:p

How 'bout the Benchmade Rant?
BM-10500.JPG

It comes in N690 steel or 440C. I have both versions. And you can find them online for fifty bucks or less.

I think it's a great knife. I carry it often, on my left hip for crossdraw, and my pistol on my right. It's a perfect sized (8 5/8" overall, full tang) backup fixed blade that takes care of EDC tasks as well. Comes with a nice leather sheath that will fit a BDU belt, keeps the knife nice and tight to your body and is very easily concealed under a T-shirt.

Just my two cents.

It was a model called the Ridgeback Tactical Hunter by maker Denim, but I wanted it to be slightly amended....

It looked like this

What was was the knife you thought you had settled on?

I'm currently investigating a company called RAIDOPS.....

Sounds like a bug spray, but they make some sweet knives.

How about a Rodan? 1095 full flat grind with deep convex secondary, small integral forward guard, injection-molded polypropylene handle over a BEEFY tang (so synthetic handle material :p) and a nice leather sheath--for around $20.

I love mine and I'm not sure if I could break it if I tried! Figured I'd through out a potential low-cost solution.:D

Marble's might still make some nice and respectable American made fixed blades for a variety of uses. I see them for sale on a few sites but Marble's still hasn't joined the 1990's and gotten their own factory website from what I can find. I have some vintage hunters, circa 1940's and 1950's, and they are superb quality for a mass produced factory knife.

Take a look at "Knives of Alaska" if you haven't already. The Magnum or Trekker have somewhat similar grips to the Ridgeback.

Both Helle in sheaths:

Said Barkie was 'too obvious' but if I was solo on a deserted island I'd probably want one along.
If you want the guard and clip blade, hard to beat the new custom skinner in your choice of G10 or mic.
(This one in plain ole D.I.)

I also like the Fox River size and ergonomics. If that's larger than you want, move to the medium Highland, or 1 inch smaller Woodland.

Woodland green G10:

May want to consider the USA made Marbles. Here's the plainsman and woodcraft in gamegetter handles, both have guards.

Hope this helps a little, good luck w/your search.

This must be a working knife...

To narrow it down:

I prefer synthetics like G10, micarta and carbon fiber
I prefer tool steels like O-1, A2 and the like, though am not opposed to stainless steels.
I prefer a guard, single integral ideally.
I like clip points/bowies

Mad Dog ATAK :D Not cheap but cheap tools are not worth anything ....... most of the time !!!

Krein TK4 Bowie

Comfy handle, awesome grinds (Krein Bowies are a thing of beauty) and a heckuva slicer. To your door as you like it and w/ kydex for the low low price of $250 (and worth every penny). Team it up with some sweet pocket leather and your folders better watch their backs.:D

Also of note.... the handle on the Krein PSK can get a wee bit cramped if you have larger type paws..... but it is an awesome little knife.
