No, mine is a true Western W49. It has a "B" stamp, which prior research indicates it was made in 1978. It really is a well made knife, although the handle is a bit blocky.

Wow, I know the livestock industry took some big hits due to the hard winter last year, ya don't think of the wildlife having the same deal.
Lots of sheep and moose winter kill up here the last 2 winters, and this one looks to be similar.
