Fixed blades

A little shorter than a foot, that one :)

Cool pic Roland! Made me think of an old one. Could make a fun thread theme…

Here’s a departure from the usual crap I post. One of those knives you see on Amazon but never pay attention to.. Off Grid Knives Tracker ( the black one ). I figured I’d give one of these a try and I’m pleasantly surprised at its performance. D2 steel, incredible edge geometry and heat treatment seems to be excellent. Out of the box that knife cuts better many knives I own costing 2, 3, 4 and 5 times the price. This isn’t a review but it is definitely positive feedback. If anyone is looking for a decent truck / work / loaner / beater knife.. maybe try one. I’m actually extremely happy with the cutting performance of that knife. I did chop it into quite a bit of knots and a some pressure treated crap furniture wood - no chips or rolls !

*kydex is perfect as well.

Pretty Cool looking!!!
Can you show it from the side?
Is this what you mean?

It’s thick at 1/4 inch, but Ray did an excellent hollow grind on all of his knives i’ve had the pleasure of holding. It reminds me (imo) of a cooler TGLB with better ergos for my hand. I realized i don’t like the forward cant on the TGLB or the extremely hollowed out and sculpted handle scales.
I love how the guard is tilted forward on the Merc.

I saw an old for sale ad for a Merc with 3/16ths stock which would be pretty cool too.
Back when Ray was alive, you could order different stock thicknesses and grinds from him.

I like canted guards too, although I never held one. Previously I made a knife (I guess it's a micarta guard, in the handle), I was hoping the person was a member here (or would at least join some day).... It was my introduction if you will to fighters, of sorts....I think I posted these before?

-but the front handle Is canted, and it just seems that should be more popular...and how it Always should be done. Haha. I want to make more.
Maybe with the tang exposed like That? Instead of hidden tang. I like those pins. Is it a stainless guard or aluminum? I could do either. Or brass. I like the idea of a metal guard

The guard is aluminum and i believe the pins are stainless steel.
I don’t like canted handles, but i like canted guards!
I don’t like non metal guards either. I do prefer the guard to be a separate piece of metal and not just integral or integral and covered with the handle material. Integral with metal added or non integral and a separate piece of metal looks really nice to me. I hope that makes sense.

I agree....I plan on doing that with something similar to the one above. (Someday, hopefully not too far in the future)
