They refused to make that right after you sent pictures? That’s some bullshit right there.Yeah, sad thing is I gave them a chance to make it right. Their quality control is as good as their customer service.
That truly sucks. There are some fantastic knives in that price range. Some photos are worth many words.Yeah, sad thing is I gave them a chance to make it right. Their quality control is as good as their customer service.
Heh - if I can’t buy the bit at Ace Hardware….That truly sucks. There are some fantastic knives in that price range. Some photos are worth many words.

When I saw the first pic I thought “man, that’s a really amateurish looking tang…. but what’s with the proprietary hardware? Who made this shit?”![]()
Whoops - sorry, B beeinak ! Quoted the wrong post. Meant to grab this one:Heh - if I can’t buy the bit at Ace Hardware….![]()
Meaning that if I can’t buy the bit at Ace Hardware, I usually refer to the hardware as proprietary, and I know I’m not alone. The hardware is not proprietary, just uncommon.
Then “their specs” are garbage.Yeah, sent several pictures and was told it’s within their specs.
I don't want to belabor the point, but it is a spanner bit found in security bit sets and some gunsmith sets. Pretty easy to find these days. I get your point, however. More common flat or hex or torx is preferred by just about everyone.Heh - if I can’t buy the bit at Ace Hardware….![]()

Here’s a departure from the usual crap I post. One of those knives you see on Amazon but never pay attention to.. Off Grid Knives Tracker ( the black one ). I figured I’d give one of these a try and I’m pleasantly surprised at its performance. D2 steel, incredible edge geometry and heat treatment seems to be excellent. Out of the box that knife cuts better many knives I own costing 2, 3, 4 and 5 times the price. This isn’t a review but it is definitely positive feedback. If anyone is looking for a decent truck / work / loaner / beater knife.. maybe try one. I’m actually extremely happy with the cutting performance of that knife. I did chop it into quite a bit of knots and a some pressure treated crap furniture wood - no chips or rolls !
*kydex is perfect as well.
Pet peeve of mine . Most knife guys already have a decent small Torx set . They just work , and probably better than any more "special" type .Pretty easy to find these days
You left out:Pet peeve of mine . Most knife guys already have a decent small Torx set . They just work , and probably better than any more "special" type .
Life is complicated enough .
I'm not buying any knife that makes me go looking for ; and have to store , organize and maintain yet another unnecessary tool .![]()
