Fixed EDC for a camp/woods knife?

I vary. I have a small 2.25 inch EDC that I carry sometimes, and my 'shop knife' EDC is a 4.5 inch blade clip point style. I also really like the scandi grind neckers I do as EDCs. I think Andy's one, photographed up above, is a really fantastic choice.

My main advice is to not skimp on the handle.

Check out Dozier if your budget will allow. Or have a look at Ragweed Forge's Scandinavian blades for a more affordable selection.

Check out Michael Morris' stuff. Not only does he have nice designs and blade/handle shapes, he makes his knives out of old files and rasps. Yeah, I know, who cares about an old file - I didn't. Until he told me that the files are made out of W-1 tool steel. Whoa, then I started paying attention. W-1 is about the toughest stuff out there. The guy makes good stuff!

I like Mora knives. I think they will do just about anything you ask of them, within reason. Certainly, they will do everything on your list of requirements.

Or you can pay more money if you want to.

The Rat Cutlery Izula is a blade I carry with me everyday. It fills all of my needs very well. However, if you would like it a little larger, the RAt Cutlery RC 3 will fit your needs perfectly.

fallkniven F1 with the factory kydex sheath. Its a small compact package.
1. SURVIVAL- internationally used and abused tested design.
2. Food prep- its stainless, its thick but not too thick. you can drop the whole thing in boiling water for a proper clean, its designed for it.
3. EDC- its not tactical looking/aggressive, its small and discreet.

I will throw another recommendation in. One of my favorites is the Puma Jagdnicker. It fits nearly all of your reqirements. There is another model which is shorter than the 4" blade of the J, but I cant remember the name right this minute.

I often carry this little 2 1/2 inch blade by L.O. Albach. I don't know the steel, and I don't know the maker. I bought this from a friend about 10 years ago.
Still, its a wonderful little carry blade. Sharp, and stays that way, and it is plenty big enough for EDC use.
The sheath grips the knife perfectly, and rides horizontal on the belt. I wear it just forward of the left hip.

I don't have the money to drop the hammer on one just yet so I'm gonna percolate til after the new year.:D

I bet you've got money for a Mora. Why don't you try one of those for now and see if you really need more knife than that? You may be surprised.

Look at David Farmer knives. They are just what you are looking for and are great knives.

These are three I have tried. All three suit my EDC/Woods needs.

The BK11 got me hooked on EDC fixed blades.(It is now my sons).

The middle one is my favorite, and I think you have seen it before.;)

The bottom one is the knife that replaced my BK11. And I carry it from time to time.

Both JK's are 1/8" O1 with convex edges. The bottom one is 6" OAL with a 2 3/4" scale to tip. The middle one is 6 1/2" OAL with a 3" blade.

What is the model name of the middle one, i must find one!

I have three suggestions. The first is to get a knife from one of our Knife Makers here.

Second choice a BRKT Highland

Buck Vanguard.

Three good choices in three price ranges. I would say a smaller knife if it were just for EDC but add woods to it, I want something a bit bigger.

My woods knive is the BRKT Bravo one, my EDC fixed blade is an Izula but after checking this thread I had to order the JK EDC. Stomper says it will be ready by mid December. Cleared it with the wife as a "Christmas present"!!!

Is it Christmas yet??????
