Western and Western.

This one doesn't have the H washers.

Beautiful pairing. This FB is a 1973 to 1976 L66. The WESTERN over USA stamp (no Boulder Colo) came about when Western dropped reference to Boulder as part of the stamp starting in 1973. The model numbers were already being stamped on the guard staring in 1967. I'm pretty sure that Western dropped use of the bifurcated tang in construction of the L66 in 1973 as I have a 1967-1972 L66 that is made with the H washers. The post-1972 L66 is the only model Western dropped the bifurcated tang on (for those models that began life as bifurcated) until the Camilllus era.

Thank you. It's a sweet little stockman, too. Strange story, that brief, limited switch back to solid washers. I was 16-19 years old. Cripes.

Actually, the L66 never shifted back to H-washers. It remained a hidden tang knife for the remainder of its production days. The L66 (as a WL66) was also produced by Camillus all the way to Camillus' final production in 2006.

The model first appeared as the xL66 in the 1941 catalog. It was not produced during WW2, but it was one of the relative few pre-WW2 models resurrected after the war ended.

It seems kind of fitting that he L66 was produced for 66 years.
