Flamesnknives or just flames

But I will not buy anything from anybody if they don't have it in stock at the time I bid on it or win it.

How does a person know that they have it in stock? Contacting them before bidding will not always get you correct information.

My experience with flames and knives is rotten. Ordered knife and 3 weeks later when I got the knife (he's 400 miles from me) it was the wrong knife. He actually sent me a knife that was more expensive so I immediately contacted him and offered to pay the difference because I did not want to wait any more for the right knife. The next day he turned me into ebay for non payment. I had to provide ebay with the number off the western union money order to prove I paid for the knife. Normally I pay with paypal but he offered a free gift if I paid some other way. I'm still waiting 6 months later. I did send him the difference. Like they say "no good deed goes un-punished".

That's a BS way of doing business. So much for honesty....

They could have settled it amicably, especially when it was you who 'fessed up that you got a more expensive knife. Not to mention sending a wrong knife is a mess-up on their part in the first place.

I've always reserved the thought that high feedback vendors could be a double-edged sword; they could screw over 5-10% of their customers and with the other 90-95% saying they are good, who's gonna believe the minority?

I guess this is a prime example of abusing one's reputation.

From my experience flames and knives was closer to the "ugly" than to the "bad". Anyway this isn't a good place to by from.

Steve has responded after much dogged pressure from me (which shouldn't be the case if ya wanna talk about customer service, but putting that aside...).

He is apologetic and seeks to remedy the situation by processing the order and shipping it off to me at the end of the week. Instead of refunding the excess shipping, he has offered another knife instead (I guess as a seller it'd be wiser to keep the cash and offer some stock instead, esp. if its excess stock), and I'm ok with it so I shan't insist on a refund.

If this shipment comes through, I would say that FnK is on its way to redeem itself if it continues keeping up this kind of service/communication and if it settles some of its outstanding cases.

This was never a vindictive post so if it turns out well, I will post objectively. If it's another wild goose chase, I will not hesitate to mention it here and in every other gear/flashlight/gun/camping forum I visit. ;)

Ok, received my goods today. If FnK had just sent out fast and had this kind of communication from the start, I'd say they were pretty decent.

Got a couple of free china keychain knives and a small buck keychain type knife as well. Not too bad I guess.

Overall, I consider this closed. Personally, FnK made it up to me.

FWIW, I too had a not-so-honest experience with Steve and his EBay sales. He claimed he had a Calypso Jr ZDP-189 in stock (he never said it wasn't in stock.) After a few days, I contacted him and he admitted that it was a mistake and refunded my money a day later.

He then claimed he would let me know when they get them in stock and sell me a couple at cost. :jerkit:

If he had waited to respond, I wouldn't have hesitated to send negative feedback AND report him to EBay.

Since our communication was fine and he did refund the money immediately, I didn't do anything. I felt I was a lucky one however.

PS. He mentioned that he works during the day, so his FnK business is run by his wife part-time.
